Apart from the (*facepalm*) at the 2017 Oscars, the success of La La Land director Damien Chazelle at such a young age has also made headlines.

He scooped the Academy Award for Best Director at just 32 years old, becoming the youngest director in Oscars' history to take the esteemed award.

But the Oscars have honoured much younger stars in the past and the very young have been scoring impressive feats in the world of film and music for many years. These are some of the most impressive 'Youngest evers...' in entertainment history.

Damien Chazelle has made headlines for picking up the Best Director Award at The Oscars at 32, but in 1973 actress Tatum O'Neal picked up the Best Supporting Actress award at just 10 years old.

She won for her role in the movie Paper Moon and is the youngest Oscar winner of all time.

X-Men and True Blood actress Anna Paquin came close in 1994 when she picked up the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1994 for her role in The Piano.

The youngest Oscars nominees

The youngest ever Oscars' nominee was Justin Henry, who picked up a Best Supporting Actor nod Oscars, nod in 1979 for his role in 1979 movie, Kramer vs. Kramer. He was just 8 years old at the time.

More recently, Quvenzhane Wallis picked up a nomination for Best Actress in 2012 for her role in Beasts Of The Southern Wild 2012. She lost out to Jennifer Lawrence for her part in Silver Linings Playbook.

She's an acclaimed actress now, but made history in 1998 when she became the youngest singer to enter the charts at No.1 with her song, Because We Want To.

It was her first ever single and the first of three No.1 singles scored by the star before she switched careers.

The youngest star to ever score a No.1 single in the UK is , who topped the charts in 1972 with his song, Long Haired Lover From Liverpool.

The youngest star to score a US No.1 single

is the youngest star to ever hit No.1 in America, when his track Fingertips Part 1 & 2 topped the charts in 1962, when he was just 13 years old.

More recently, the then 16-year-old became the youngest musician to hit the US No.1 in 26 years, when her song Royals raced to the top in 2013.

The youngest star to ever chart in the US

It's unlikely anyone will ever break Blue Ivy Carter's US chart record however, having been credited on a hit which featured vocals recorded just hours after her birth.

Blue Ivy was credited on Jay's single Glory as B.I.C, which reached No.23 on the US rap chart in 2012. A video for the track was released on Tidal, which showed intimate footage of Jay, Blue Ivy and wife .
