Former scrap metal dealer; criminal

Ever since his first crime, as a boy, stealing chocolate from Woolworths, the Grundys have found it hard to trust Alf.

An old rogue with an eye for the ladies, Eddie's brother Alf has disappeared and reappeared in Ambridge many times – and almost every time under a cloud. He even stole nephew William’s pocket money from his piggy bank when William was just 3 years old. He has been conspicuously absent at several family occasions – from his own 40th birthday party to Will and Emma’s wedding in 2004 – but this is usually, Clarrie feels, for the best.

When his father Joe Grundy died, Alf reappeared to track down the mysterious Carmen who'd mentioned a fortune in a letter to Joe. Disappointed by the discovery that there was no pot of gold after all, Alf left the family once more to pursue his lone wolf lifestyle.
