Lisa's Apple Crumble

Lisa Goodwin-Allen's recipe for a delicious, warming apple crumble. Best served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Serves 4.

INGREDIENTS

Ingredients for the crumble:

  • 85g plain flour
  • 60g butter
  • 60g golden granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 50g sultanas

Ingredients for the Filling:

  • 2 medium Bramley apples
  • 2 medium Granny Smith apples
  • 100g golden granulated sugar

METHOD

  1. First, make the crumble topping: Rub the flour and butter together wiht your hands until you get a sandy texture, add granulated sugar, sultanas and cinnamon and mix well.
  2. Pre-heat the oven to 180'c.

  3. Peel and core the apples, cut into nice size chunks (not too small).

  4. Place the apple chunks into a pan with the sugar and cook on a medium heat for 10 minutes until the apples are soft.

  5. Pour the stewed apples into an oven-proof dish.

  6. Cover with the crumble on top (about 1cm thick).

  7. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until golden brown.
