Climate graphs

Bar charts and line graphs can be combined. Climate graphs are an example of this.

The x-axis shows the months of the year and there are two y-axes to show average temperature and total rainfall (also known as precipitation). The temperature is shown as a line and the rainfall as bars.

When describing a climate graph, you should include: -

  • The highest and lowest rainfall figures and the month they occurred.
  • The total annual rainfall.
  • The average rainfall.
  • The highest and lowest temperature figures and the month they occurred.
  • The temperature range.
  • The average yearly temperature.
