School on Demand.

Fetlar School

We close for the holidays on Wednesday 4th July, or rather we thought that! The ±«Óãtv are coming to film a TV programe about our declining population & they want to film us in the school. But it will be on Friday.

Its good for us here though, as our school only has 3 pupils and we're set to lose one a year until 2010. So we're going to be in front of a ±«Óãtv film crew on Friday morning, sghowing what life in Fetlar & the school is like.

We've been told the programme will be broadcast on Wednesday 11th July on ±«Óãtv1.
Does Anne at IBHQ know anything about this?

Houbie, the main population centre.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the ±«Óãtv programme. You will be celebrities! Perhaps once the programme is shown you will be inundated with new pupils. I hope so. Best wishes for the programme.

Jill from EK

I don't I'm afraid! But if you email me at islandblogging@bbc.co.uk with a few more details about who's coming to film you I could try to find out a bit more about it.

Anne from IBHQ

Has to be one of the best primary schools I've ever set foot in - you deserve to be in demand!! Would like to increase the school population by two, but I don't think that my other half would be very keen on moving a dairy and sheep farm to Fetlar! Big shame. :-(

Rachondarox from Lancs

I'd love to bring my 2 - it would be change from their 600 pupil school. I don't think my skills would be much in demand though.

alix from west midlands

Maybe you could record the prog for us to see when we get back. When the prog is being broadcast, Consort & I should be somewhere in Central Europe.

Soljey from Shetland Mainland

Just been scouring the Radio Times. Could this be a feature for The ONE Show? It's back next week with topical reports from around the UK. If so, it's on ±«Óãtv One at 1900 on Wednesday 11th.

Anne from IBHQ

Yes its a five minute segment on The One Show. Its World Population Day on Wednesday 11th July. The ±«Óãtv are to arrive today & its foggy here.

We were on tv this year. Channel 5 made a programme called 'Over the sea to School'. We were filmed a few times - including on the last day of term. It was a bit like being on Big Brother. One dad has gone into therapy about his bald spot. You have been warned!!!

Flotta school from Flotta

Can't wait to see the program, fingers crossed Fetlar gets a population boost!!

ALLIE from EDINBURGH

My children would LOVE to come and fill the gaps. What a wonderful place you live in. My family and I are so envious. I hope the ±«Óãtv segment brings you man new settlers. We will definitely be finding out more about Fetlar.

Ruth Griffiths from Liverpool

I would be interested in moving to Feltlar but what concerns me is if we move and the school does close i have two girls one is three and the other 6 months

Sally from North Yorkshire

Hi All on Fetlar We saw the bbc one show this evening and would love to come and live on your island, just tell us where to get the information and we'll be on the next ferry,if its not us then good luck in finding the right people for your island

Katrina from Kent

We watched the programme and thought your island was wonderful, we have sent our e-mail to the programme to say we would love to move there. Fingers crossed me, hubby and my three little girls age 3,4 and 9 could be coming your way!

Jeanie Bell from Merseyside

Sally: whilst there are Primary age children on the island the school cannot close as our nearest primary is 30 minutes by ferry followed by a good 6 miles by road. Its the number of bairns that is the problem.
