Award-winning author and former Children's Laureate Michael Morpurgo OBE delivers the 35th Richard Dimbleby Lecture on ±«Óãtv One in February.

Michael's best-known book, War Horse, was recently dramatised to critical acclaim and is now being made into a Hollywood feature film.

Michael combines his work as a writer with a role as an ambassador for a leading children's charity. In this role he recently visited the Middle East where he witnessed at first hand the difficulties that children face in times of conflict.

In this year's Richard Dimbleby Lecture, Michael draws on this and other experiences in order to explore children's rights, and the wrongs they have to endure.

In the two-week run-up to World Book Night, Anne Robinson hosts a new daily chat show inviting personalities to share their Life In Books.

Each day two celebrity guests join Anne to discuss the five books they most love – and why.

This literary treat, takes a journey into the world of books with people that viewers want to spend time with. The guests travel through their lives with a choice of books, taking in fairytales that fired their imagination, heroes and heroines they dreamed of becoming, new worlds that were opened to them through children's books, classic or contemporary novels, diaries, biographies, travelogues and perhaps even poetry or annuals.

Through their choices the guests reveal their childhood, tough times and inspiring moments – both personal and professional.

The Radio 2 Book Club

Broadcast in Simon Mayo's Drivetime programme, the Radio 2 Book Club takes an in-depth look at a range of fiction and nonfiction titles, with author interviews, incisive analysis and online interaction.

Every fortnight, Simon puts the views of some of his Drivetime audience of more than 5 million listeners to some of the world's most celebrated authors, as he interviews them about their life, work and their featured book.

Among the books featured since the Book Club was launched in October 2010 are Mr Chartwell by debut novelist Rebecca Hunt, James Lee Burke's Glass Rainbow and a first foray into non-fiction with Simon Garfield's Just My Type.

Simon Mayo says: "Reviewing books was a part of my life for nine years at ±«Óãtv Radio 5 Live. I'm thrilled to be doing it all again now with the Radio 2 Book Club. We'll read anything that's good and pass it on in 2011."

Listeners can participate in an interactive forum on the Radio 2 website, apply to review the book, or read a chapter of the featured book which is published online.
