The Birth of Barry – When Coal was King

At the beginning of the nineteenth century, what is now the town of Barry was a group of three small villages and a few farms, while Barry Island was a haunt of smugglers. One hundred years later, they were the site of one of the most successful industrial enterprises in South Wales.
