Having just emerged relatively unscathed from the monthly management meeting, my first instinct was to make a forae into my favourite online forum...so here I am.

But alas, a potential professional dilemma looms. I enjoy my current job but have been approached to meet the owner of another company seeking my services. that job is chief copywriter for a thriving, well established travel company. Writing and travelling, two of my passions combined and being paid for it? Would that be an offer too good to refuse?

I meet on Tuesday so, should that morph into a solid offer...

Hey Anne, did the FNWC start without me? Been to the cemetery with the family (it's mum's birthday today) in the rain, boy it's a glamorous life I lead... Annoyed with myself cos I left my flowers at work, but one of the girls has very kindly put them in water for me, so I'll take them Monday night after work. Now with a nice glass of red somethingorother, but only 3/4 of a bottle tonight, so I may not be on top form!! What was that the other week about radio dj's encouraging drinking...

Dr T, you'll lose nothing by meeting with this new chap, so go ahead and see what he has to offer. Once you know more detail about the position, then I'm sure you'll know whether it's for you. It does sound tempting though!

Changing the subject slightly, my niece and I were discussing going to see Dara O' Briain next month. Now there's a funny man. Used to annoy the hell out of me with his 'oirishness', but he's brilliant as the host of Mock the Week. £22 a ticket though, it's not a cheap as it used to be. Last comedian I went to see was Jack Dee, and I think he was about £10. That was a good few years ago mind you...

Seeing the reviews for the film about the boy in the striped pyjamas ( think that's what it's called), have remembered that I read the book and it was wonderful. Can't now remember who I loaned it to.

A book that makes you want to cry and wonder how people came to be like that.

Oh dear, being bingo'd. Bit at a time then...

I find it difficult to read books like that Anne, although the synopsis does sound interesting. My friend keeps trying to interest me in Jodi Picoult, but all the woman seems to write about is children being abused in some way, shape or form. Perhaps I'm doing her a dis-service, but I've read I think 3 of hers, and abandoned the 4th because I found it too upsetting.

I prefer the escapist aspect of novels, rather than reading about the cruelty mankind inflicts on one another... Ooh, listen to me and my high horse. Sorry, didn't mean to sound like that hon!!

I'm re-reading The Black Echo by Michael Connelly, which is at work for lunchtimes, and I have a Jeffrey Deaver, The Vanished Man, waiting in the wings. Didn't realise he had created Lincoln Rhyme (The Bone Collector is a fantastic film), but now I know I'll just have to get them all!!

Oh dear, apparently BP don't like the thing two people do with their mouths when they like each other.

One of my favourite books is Memoirs of a Highland Lady by Elizabeth Grant of Rothiemurchus. Not a book to read all at once but great for dipping into.
