WOW, WOW, WOW, AN EVEN BETTER FRIDAY THAN USUAL.
I've just spent the afternoon with two of my closest friends down the doctor's. And let me tell you they've both received....
... the all clear!
Hurrah.
I'm so pleased for Leftie and Rightie, that's what I call them anyway. So what if they may have a little infection but other than that they're perfectly shaped and in pretty good order.
Apparently you can be too old to get certain diseases and the one I was tested for, (generally that is- of course there are always exceptions) is one of those.
So I'm straight o t'interweb after this to see what else do you not need to worry about as you get older. Apparently it's a general rule of thumb that all the problems move away from the fromt and toward the back.
I'm so bouyed by my experience I'm goin for the full M.O.T. next week. Look we've all got to get soemthing at some time and the sooner we know we have it the better. Though for the moment it's pimms o'clock for this ex ginger fella.
Isn't it crazy that as soon as you receive a clean bill of health, the first thing you want to do is go out and get absolutely bingoed again.

The tomatoes look delish - I make a chunky tomato soup (from Rachel Allen's book - other recipes are availale) and it is just yummy. Mentioning pimms makes me want to go and break out the G&T and it's not 5 yet!!

It's not funny when you get old an' warty an' things drop off.
However, I too have recently had the all-clear with my own missus leftie and missus rightie, aka. the Bad Boys, and so I'm feelin' more than a little smug and in celebration I'm off to treat them to a new house. A Sheepdog Bra. You know, rounds 'em up an' points 'em in the right direction.
You know you're never too old to be childish. And to this end I'm just after booking a tandem parachute jump.
I'm not tellin' the daughter though, she'll give out to me and probably have me sectioned and use words like irresponsible and osteoporosis.
So she'll get a photo as I'm in free-fall, just like she did when I dangled off that 80ft. high rope bridge on the North Antrim Coast.
Well, yippee it's ARF. I'm off.

Excellent news on the health front CLP!
I'm just recovering from a viral infection - apparently, my body was allergic a virus and I was scratching all over...! We spent weeks trying to work out whether it was the washing powder, shower gel...or something else!!
The relief when the doc said it was rare but easily sortable!!! Mad eh?!
Shame as you get older it's not like when you were small and you'd be rested and maybe, just maybe, get a little treat for your suffering...
Anyways, fabbo Friday again and to everyone have a great one!

Glad Leftie and Rightie are OK. I know what you mean about celebrating the fact that you're healthy! I have to have some tests next week and I know that once I get the results back, I will want to let my hair down BIG STYLE!!
Don't research too much though, you will only end up being paranoid about the slightest sniffle, tummy twang or froggy throat.

Just heard your comments about female sport presenters. They are every bit as good as men. My daughter was a sports results presenter for ±«Óãtv radio Cornwall at the age of 15. She held the job for nearly two years without complaint!
She had many comments about her presenting and none of them bad.

Chris, having had a very similar experience to your good self, I can only congratulate you on your cheery demeanour in recent days. When my leftie had a scare (which actually required surgery to repair) 18 months ago, I was like a bear with a sore head! Leftie still needs a bit more TLC than rightie but he's still in perfect working order and up to the task in hand :-)
May I ask how you picked up the infection that led to the scare or does a gentleman never reveal such things? I know there are super bugs about these days but my medical chums reliably inform me that the antibiotics they prescribe for such ailments are very very potent :-s

Got through again for all request Friday, the same young lad answered the phone, took my details, my phone number. Did he phone me back? Nope, perhaps he`s the same person that sensores the blog? But he sounded ok. Am I getting a reputation?! lol Perhaps I`ll have to morph into a Susie from Kensington who is going to have a wild hen party at the Ritz! I would have thought the song requested was more important than the reason and who you are. That`s how it used to be in the old days. And the song I wanted: Australia by the Manic Street Preachers, a great song, the sort of song you turn your headphones to full volumn. Went to a pole dancing place this afternoon with my friend, it costs £1 a dance. I was a bit skint and asked the girl what I would get for 50p. Not the best thing to say, I was lucky to escape the place with all my bits in place!! Didn`t get to watch any dancing. Oh well lesson learnt.
Got stew tonight, infact stew for the next 5 days I made so much of it. I may never be able to get on the ±«Óãtv but my claim to fame is one of my friends with his girlfriend hold the current Guiness World Record for kissing. He`s told me about it and it sounds harder than running a marathon. I ran the London Marathon once, it was my best sence of achivement ever, obviously I didn`t drink in those day and was as fit as a fiddle. I used to cycle 100 miles a day at weekends.

Interesting picture of Tomatoes. I used to go to talks at the British Film Institute. They once had this director talking about filming food for comercials. It`s all in the lighting. They had this banquite of food on the table and a camera on a dolly and ran the camera along the top of the table filming the food. After the shoot, the director decided to dimolished the food by lowering the camera and flying it through all the food. The client wasn`t very happy!
How come we can`t put photoes on the blog. I know, the BP would have a nightmare sensoring it all. And I`ve got a great picture of me half way up Mont Blanc, I even looked attractive. Is Christoph learning to fly? If so I recomend he take a lesson in a Tiger Moth. And also try a trip in a glider, they are so pure more like being a bird.
I could never do a bungie jump but I`d love to stand on the wing of one of those biplanes while it did aerobatics. And did you know that Judge John Deed (Martin Shaw) has his own aeroplane, a Boeing Stearman Biplane.

Your post on yesterday's blog brought a lump to my throat. I can honestly say that having something to focus your mind on will work wonders. We got our allotment plots (2 of them) in March 2005. In April 2005 my dad died very suddenly at the age of 60 - he was an alcoholic and it was the beer that got him in the end. Anyway, in the dark days following his funeral I spent many, many hours at the allotment, just digging the soil, prepping it for planting and stuff. It was such a help. All the 'old boys' up the allotment kind of adopted me. Life long friendships are formed and you get fantastic healhy produce into the bargain! It's a real minor thing, but not having to lug spuds back from the supermarket for the past year has been wonderful!!

I nipped into town this afternoon and bought my bra for the Moonwalk, and lots of pink feathers/pom poms/sequins/ribbony things etc to adorn said bra. Only 5 weekends to Moonwalk d-day: a 12 mile walk in the morning and then 16 miles next weekend and 20 miles on Bank Holiday weekend. I've booked myself a spa day on Bank Holiday Monday to help ease those aching muscles - I only hope I can still change gear and get out of the car!
Right, I'm off to relax for the evening. Mr Diva is out with his chums planning his walking holiday so I can watch Ugly Betty in peace with my last Easter Egg - bliss!

The best thing to soothe a sore throat and swollen glands I've discovered is ginger tea - made with fresh grated ginger - it's delicious.
Ginger is a fantastic anti-inflammatory - is fabulous for post-gym aches and pains - i'm addicted to the stuff. Try a pear, apple and ginger smoothie - divine!
Congrats on the show's 1st birthday - I started my new job nearly a year ago and you and the team have kept me company on my drive home - thankyou!
It took a while to catch on but I think you are sound for letting other men (and women) know that this is not an uncomfortable subject and if worried needs to be talked about and investigated

I have various health problems, too numerous to recount but none particularly life threatening and feel like I should have a complete service but don't want the medical profession to find anything else wrong with me! I know I should be brave, I'm another (occasional) blogger who turns 40 this year but I really can't steel myself to do anything! I'll get there one day I'm sure.............

Martin: Just read your blog from Thursday. I was married to a lovely man who was, as well, an alcoholic. AA worked for him and, as far as I know, he still isn't drinking after 12 years.. Unfortunately, he ran away one Christmas with a woman who was also in AA.
When I'm in that dark place music helps a lot. Whoever you like, as long as someone is singing music you can identify with.
You're right - one day at a time, even one hour at a time if that helps.

Hi Chris, had a busy weekend so hadn't read your blog till today. During the lovely weather we have had recently, we now say it's Pimms O'clock a lot! It's a lovely drink with strawberries and lemonade. My six year old granddaughter was in a shop with me not long ago and the lady on the till asked us the time. My granddaughter replied very quickly "It's Pimms O'Clock!" the whole shop was laughing and I was very red faced! What could I say?

Hope you have all had a nice weekend, had friends for a barbie yesterday and hubby cremated the meat, he's not got that barbecue gene most men are born with unfortunately.
Watched the new Stephen Fry drama last night; very pleasant to look at and all that but WHERE WERE THE NORFOLK ACCENTS??? This is a pet hate of mine as I can't see the point in setting a drama somewhere and then making all the characters come from somewhere else. I know Stephen Fry lives here, so I'm surprised he didn't think of this. I know our gorgeous accent is difficult to replicate, but I'm Norfolk born and bred so I'd be happy to leave dinnerladying behind to become an actress!!
Sorry I have rambled on a bit, and sorry also to the person who doesn't like it when we veer away from just responding to Chris's original message. The problem is the morning is my computer time and I haven't got much to say about Chris's message from Friday. Plus I don't have testicles.

It's going fantastically well! Had an induction this morning then went thru daily stuff like post etc. The building is a fabulous barn and I'm on the first floor - the view is better than the landfill site and the long days of portacabin blues seem long gone. I really think I'm gonna love it here!

I finish at 5.30 so will be shouting at the car radio for Women's Minute!

hi . not been on here for a while..i was inspired by the the subject of checking your bits and decided to take the matter in hand (so to speak). to my horror i have found two lumps and despite bathing them in ginger tea over most of the weekend they are still there at time of writing . i have put BUPA on standby for an emergency visit -is there anything i should do in the meantime ? very worried me.
