Classroom Ideas

Following the clip, students could be encouraged to create their own cartoon storyboard of ‘A day in the life of an MSP in the Scottish Parliament’ which they could present to other pupils. Students could contact their own MSPs to find out about their work, including the parliamentary groups they are part of and the issues they are actively involved with addressing. Through the Democracy Live site they can see what part their MSP had played in parliamentary debate and in some committees.The class could discuss what an MSP should do when there is a clash between their own beliefs, their party policy and the request of a constituent. Discuss which should take priority and how democratic this is.
