Local government funding - Public Private Partnership
Description
In Scotland, funding for the building of new schools and hospitals has been raised through Public Private Partnership. This had led to improved facilities, but the long term costs of PPP projects has been questioned.
Classroom Ideas
Students could undertake further investigation into local case studies (possibly their own school) involving PPPs. They could work in groups to consider the pros and cons of the Public Private Partnership and develop a presentation which could be delivered to their classmates. Students could also be asked to critically examine the long term costs of PPP.
