Capercaillie

Capercaillie are a Scottish band that fuse together elements of popular and rock music with traditional .

The band formed in 1983 while the original members were still at school. They came together to play at local Celtic dances, called ceilidhs. Their first album, Cascade, was released in 1984 and have gone on to release 11 studio albums to date.

The Beautiful Wasteland album

Beautiful Wasteland is Capercaillie’s seventh album, released in 1997. Another four have been released since, the last in 2013. The single, Beautiful Wasteland, is about longing for home and some of its lines refer to home. This theme is often used in many traditional Celtic folk songs. Beautiful Wasteland has a laid back, evocative and smooth feel running throughout the album.

It was recorded in the Andalusian mountains of Spain. The band has continued to bring of sounds together. This album includes a former ±«Óătv young musician of the year on pipes and whistles, and the African chants of Las Hijas del Sol and a Guinean vocal duo.
