    Worcs 436 v Notts 201-5

Nottinghamshire go past 200 and earn a first batting bonus point.

for Hoseinpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Durham 475 v Derbyshire 245-7

Harvey Hosein's fine start to the season continues as he brings up his fourth County Championship half-century in a row.

He's still got a lot of work on his hands if his side are to avoid the follow-on though. They need to get to 326.

Hosein has only been dismissed once in five innings so his average this campaign stands at a staggering 272!

  16. 'Still a lot to do for Derbyshire'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Lunch: Durham 475 v Derbyshire 236-7

    Martin Emmerson
    ±«Óãtv Radio Newcastle

Injuries aside, Chris Rushworth will become Durham's leading wicket taker in first-class cricket some time this summer.

Today, in taking the 27th 'five-for' of his first-class career he moved to 518 dismissals for the club and equalled the total set by former England bowler Simon Brown. Next on his list is Graham Onion's 527. There's no-one in between.

There was an element of fortune about today's fifth wicket though. Durham had only taken one wicket in the morning session and were approaching lunch when Brooke Guest had a rush of blood to the head.

He was on a career-best 37 and had been batting nicely, adding 83 for the seventh wicket with Harvey Hosein. But for some reason he tried to aggressively pull Rushworth through the leg side and instead edged to the keeper. In an instant all of his toil in the morning session was undone.

Hosein will resume after lunch on 49. He's looking for his fourth half century of the season and is in great form. It will be his third against Durham as well. But his side still have a lot to do to rescue this one. Derbyshire trail by 239 runs at 236-7. However, I am not sure now if Durham would enforce the follow-on if they had the chance to do so.

  17. Good morning for Warwickshirepublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Lunch: Warwickshire 284 v Essex 295 & 25-4

    Mike Taylor
    ±«Óãtv WM

Starting again with a lead of only 11, Essex began unsteadily.

Olly Stone again bowled swiftly and those assessing his England prospects will be further encouraged by his sharpness after a busy couple of weeks but all four wickets were shared by other bowlers in the half-hour before lunch.

Alastair Cook hit Craig Miles through the covers off both front and back foot, but when he repeated his more flamboyant attempt in Oliver Hannon-Dalby's first over, Rob Yates held a sharp low catch.

Will Rhodes was sharper still to grab a flick by Tom Westley when Miles changed ends, and Miles struck again his next over when Nick Browne pushed across a straight ball.

Warwickshire were already set for an enjoyable lunch before Paul Walter edged Hannon-Dalby's final ball of the session, and the champions left with a lead of only 36 with six wickets to fall.

  18. 'Lower-order fightback'published at 13:21 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Lunch: Northants 364 v Glamorgan 407

    Nick Webb
    ±«Óãtv Radio Wales

Northants cut the first innings deficit to just 43 runs as their lower order continued the fight-back on day three, scoring a further 113 runs in the first session for the loss of their last three wickets.

Gareth Berg and Wayne Parnell looked untroubled by the new ball and put together a century stand before debutant Parnell was yorked by James Weighell for 54.

Weighell, who had endured a difficult Glamorgan debut last week, then took a smart catch at point to dismiss Nathan Buck for 18 off James Harris, before Michael Hogan returned to clean up last man Ben Sanderson.

Berg’s unbeaten 69 was his best score for Northants, while Glamorgan have much less of a platform to build on than seemed likely for much of the home innings.

    Sussex 221 v Yorkshire 150 & 288-9

David Willey (21*) and Duanne Olivier (13*) are providing the resistance for Yorkshire at Hove in the only one of our fixtures not at lunch.

Sussex's Ollie Robinson's 20 wickets this season make him the leading wicket-taker and he'll be looking to close out the Yorkshire innings asap.

  20. 'Somerset attack blunted'published at 13:17 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Lunch: Leics 233 & 159-5 v Somerset 318

    Anthony Gibson
    ±«Óãtv Somerset

A wicket from the first ball of the day - Rishi Patel caught at slip off the excellent Craig Overton - proved to be something of a false dawn for Somerset.

Partnerships of 78 between Lewis Hill and Harry Swindells, and an unbroken 33 between Swindells and Ben Mike have rather blunted the usually incisive Somerset attack on an increasingly docile pitch.

Jack Leach has probed away with better rhythm than in the first innings, but with only the wicket of Hill to show for his efforts.

With Swindells going well, Somerset may yet face a demanding fourth innings target.
