More from Luke Humphries: "I'm not arrogant at all but I feel like if I play my A game, there are only a couple of people who can test me in that manner; I think Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen are the two that can push me and their A level can beat me.

"But anything can happen and if I don't keep playing like this then anybody can beat me. I feel like I'm playing the best darts in the world, especially in the past six or seven months consistently, but there are so many great players and anything can happen every week.

"I keep pushing and keep doing what I'm doing."

Night eight winner Luke Humphries, speaking to Sky Sports: "I'm really enjoying myself. At the start of the season I felt a little worn out, it felt really tough for me. Now I'm enjoying the game and that's when I'm at my best.

"The last few weeks have been fantastic, my standard's been really high. I'm not unbeatable but I'm feel like I'm at that stage of performance where it takes a big performance to beat me."

Luke Humphries is being interviewed on the stage and said the past three weeks have been "a dream" in terms of his Premier League form.

Against Phil Taylor I used to have this feeling that when you played him, that if you don't get 100 with each three darts, you have lost a leg. Luke Humphries is like that.

A couple of missed darts at double for Luke Humphries and Michael Smith hits a 113 finish to get himself on the board in this final.

180, 180 - a nine-darter from Luke Humphries this time?

Nope, not yet.

He gets the treble 20 with the first dart, but no joy with the treble 19.

No harm done though - leg three wrapped up in 11 darts and Humphries is averaging a shade over 125, which is frankly obscene.

A clinical hold of throw from Humphries, despite a 180 late in the leg from Smith.
