Wandering comments

The change in month has brought a reinvigorated spam filter with the result that some comments are, once again, taking a detour enroute to being published. We are still taking the added step of rounding up as many of these non-appearing comments each day as possible and helping them along the way.

If your comment doesn't appear on Island Blogging during the day and provided it doesn't contravene the House Rules then it's likely that it will be there the following day.

Please bear with us in the meantime. We are aware of the issue and are monitoring it. As always, you can email IBHQ via islandblogging@bbc.co.uk

Cheaper ferries to the Western Isles

The new ferry service to the Western Isles should increase tourism during the summer and make it cheaper for local people to travel back and forth. In case you missed it, you can read more on the ±«Óãtv News site .

Spring is in the air?

Hello all

I've been in touch with some of you about the wandering comments so thought I'd update everyone on the situation.

Just as the first signs of spring seem to invigorate us all at this time of year, I've discovered that the same is also true of our blogging engine and the spam filter.

Work has been ongoing to make the whole moderation process smoother and to curtail those sprightly comments which have been taking time to appear on the site.

Your patience is appreciated in this as I'm only too aware how frustrating it is when comments don't appear immediately. As I've said before, the spam filter doesn't distinguish between bloggers and contributions from IBHQ have also been affected.

We are still trawling the outskirts of IBHQ each day to round up as many non-appearing comments as possible. This is something which we will continue to do until the heavy duty MOT is complete.

±«Óãtv Audience Content Survey

The ±«Óãtv has teamed up with researchers at Cardiff University to find out more about "user generated content", which is what we call everything the public sends in to us that gets used in programmes or on the website.

Have you: commented on one of our internet sites (for example the Have Your Say discussion site, a blog or a message board); sent in a photo or video; written an online diary or review; or texted/emailed us your views about a news story? Maybe you've contacted us in a more traditional way by writing in a letter, calling a radio phone-in, or tipping off a journalist about something newsworthy you've seen or heard about?

If you've done any of these things, or contacted us in another way, then you can help by filling in this short online survey (it shouldn’t take longer than five minutes):
