Eddie's hips don't lie, he's bringing big vibes and energy to Strictly 2023

Eddie’s swapping the comedy spotlight for the glitzy lights of the Strictly Ballroom!

As a natural born entertainer, Eddie’s been far from shy to step out into the limelight. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he moved to the UK at the age of ten; earning his media technology degree at Kingston University where his love for performing, stand-up comedy and hosting began.

Dominating the world of comedy, Eddie’s talents have taken him all over the world, and in 2010 he played the O2 Arena, which was initially met with some hesitation from the venue, who suggested he play the smaller IndigO2 Arena first. A force to be reckoned with, he’s not only sold out the IndigO2 twice, but the O2 Arena as well!

Eddie has since performed in numerous iconic venues such as Hackney Empire, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Up The Creek Comedy Club, Royal Festival Hall and OVO/Wembley Arena.

Taking on acting roles in Anuvahood, Gone Too Far, Venus v Mars and Tinga Tinga Tales, he’s also featured in The Stephen K. Amos show, as well as, making regularly appearances on Blankety Blank, Don’t Hate the Playaz and Channel 4’s Bake Off: An Extra Slice.

In 2020, he made history as the first Black-British comedian to headline the O2 arena, in addition to, hosting the launch of The Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show, which now airs every Sunday afternoon on ±«Óãtv Radio 1XTRA.

In 2022, Eddie began hosting an original podcast for Amazon Music called +44 Presents: The Noughties Podcast, focussing on Black music from the UK, before becoming a team captain comedy-history panel show Sorry I Didn’t Know.

And in 2023, he received a nomination for both the Royal Television Society’s Best Breakthrough Award and Best Breakthrough Presenter at the Edinburgh TV Awards.

From spending his days rehearsing in the Strictly studio, to his afternoons on the airwaves, we’re excited to see Eddie take to the floor!
