He is the son of and 's son John, who died in a tractor accident in 1998.
No-one in Ambridge realised that John had fathered a child - including John himself. It was only by chance that Pat and Tony eventually discovered they had a grandchild. Because they had blamed Johnny's wayward mother Sharon for the circumstances leading to John's death, Sharon wanted nothing to do with them.
Pat and Tony were delighted to meet this vestige of John. and were more cautious, in case Johnny should feel he had some claim upon the Bridge Farm inheritance.
Nonetheless, the lad started as an apprentice at Bridge Farm in September 2014.
