Formed around the powerhouse vocals of Bromyard's Neil Ivison and Worcester's Sarah Warren, Stone Mountain Sinners features former members of, The Sarah Warren Band,ԻThe Delray Rockets.

Having received regular airplay across the UK, Europe and the USA, Neil was described by the Sunday Mercury as “cut from the same cloth as Paul Rodgers” while Sarah’s Janice Joplin-style vocal delivery has seen her winning fans across Europe, where she has toured extensively.

With songs about friends, drinking, brushes with the law, love, broken relationships, fights and jobs, their latest album was recorded at Rockfield Studios - the same place that brought us Queen, Coldplay, Oasis and the Manic Street Preachers.

"I walked my boss down the corridors of the tv, sat him in front of a computer, played him Stone Mountain Sinners and he gave me a Sunday show!" - Andrew Marston.

Gig of the Week

Gig of the Week
This week, we're at a series of free gigs which are taking place in the waterside pubs that surround our local canals.

Organised by Neil Cardwell, these performances are being made by eight musicians - who've never met before - on a hire boat!

Neil writes: "I have organised a boat holiday on a hire boat travelling along the waterways.

"Whilst travelling along, we are hosting a series of acoustic music sessions in waterside pubs that we are visiting each evening.

"On board the boat are eight people, all of whom are musicians and singers. However, we are not a band as such. In fact most of the crew will never have met each other before we arrive at the boatyard prior to 'casting off', particularly as some of them have travelled from North America to be with us!

"Everything is totally acoustic, as we do not have space on the boat for any amplification equipment."

Their tour is taking place at the following venues:
  • Saturday 15th: The Boat & Railway, Stoke Works
  • Sunday 16th: The Railway Inn, Droitwich
  • Monday 17th: The Cardinal’s Hat, Worcester
  • Tuesday 18th: The Bridge Inn, Tibberton
  • Wednesday 19th: The Talbot, Droitwich
  • Thursday 20th: The Navigation, Stoke Prior
  • Friday 21st: The Weighbridge, Alvechurch
  • Saturday 22nd: The Blue Bell, Waring’s Green
  • Sunday 23rd: The Navigation Inn, Lapworth
  • Monday 24th: The Pen & Parchment, Stratford
  • Tuesday 25th: The Navigation Inn, Wooton Wawen
  • Wednesday 26th: The Black Boy, Knowle
  • Thursday 27th: The Wharf Tavern, Hockley Heath
  • Friday 28th: The Crown Inn, Alvechurch

tv Music Introducing at the Worcester Music Festival

tv Music Introducing at the Worcester Music Festival
This annual festival was first staged in 2008 by Chris Bennion, who produces Worcestershire Sauce, who set up a website called NotJustSauce - aiming to put Worcester on the map musically.

Taking place in multiple venues across the city, from pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes to historic buildings, river cruisers, record shops, on the streets and even in breweries, the festival is absolutely free to attend with hundreds of gigs to choose from from some of the best, new and emerging artists in the UK.

Each year the festival raises money for a chosen local charity. This year the Worcestershire Association of Carers will receive all the money dropped into buckets at the festival's venues across the weekend.

Upton Festival Highlights: Five Star

Upton Festival Highlights: Five Star
Tonight, we conclude our interviews with the stars that took to the stage at the Upton Festival.

Siblings Stedman, Lorraine, Denise, Doris and Delroy Pearson formed Five Star in 1983 and went on to have four Top 20 albums and 15 Top 40 singles in the UK.

Known for their top 10 hits 'System Addict', 'Can't Wait Another Minute', 'Find The Time', 'Rain Or Shine', 'Stay Out Of My Life' and 'The Slightest Touch', they went on to win the 1987 Brit Award for Best British Group.

The five-piece were masterminded by their father and manager, Buster Pearson, in the style of The Jackson 5 and their songs were recorded by many of the Jackson's session musicians.

National competition

National competition
A Hereford singer is through to the finals of a national competition.

Nico Michael will be competing against 10 others, in a live final in Brighton, after being shortlisted from hundreds who sent their music into the Now That's Entertainment Facebook page.

As well as receiving a cash prize, Nico says the winner receives a recording contract with exposure on ITV:"I used to be in the choir when I was about 4 or 5-years-old and then I gave up for quite a while because I never thought I was good enough.

"It was only when I was about 20-years-old that I started singing again.

"I've been thinking about it for weeks on end with sleepless nights.

"I always want to make my little girl proud, my family proud, and to get through to the final - I was shocked."
