A fantastic, festive feast of films for all ages is on the ±«Óãtv's Christmas and New Year menu with premières and favourite family classics playing out during the holiday season.

Ìý

Programme Information brings you this festive lowdown on some of the biggest blockbusters you can see this Christmas.

Ìý

MADAGASCAR (TV première)

Ìý

Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith and Sacha Baron Cohen feature in this animated adventure film following the escapades of three pampered animals from Central Park Zoo in New York. The animals escape to go and search for their missing friend, only to find themselves en route to Madagascar. When their vessel is hijacked, however, the friends, who have all been raised in captivity, learn first-hand what life can be like in the wild, and are forced to fend for themselves...

Ìý

SHARK TALE (TV première)

Ìý

Oscar is a fast-talking little fish whose big dreams have a habit of landing him in hot water, in this animated family comedy. Lenny is a great white shark with a sensitive side ... and a secret – he's a vegetarian! When a great white lie turns Oscar into an improbable hero and the truth about Lenny makes him an outcast, these two become the most unlikely of friends.

Ìý

Shark Tale features the voices of Will Smith as Oscar, a hustler who's always been able to manoeuvre his way out of trouble – until now; Robert De Niro as Don Lino, a great white shark at the top of the reef's food chain; Renée Zellweger as Angie, the beautiful angelfish who harbours a secret crush on Oscar; Angelina Jolie as the femme fatale, Lola, who uses her feminine wiles to get what she wants; Jack Black as Don Lino's son Lenny, a great white shark who is a closet vegetarian; and Martin Scorsese as Sykes, a puffer fish who is full of hot air and never misses an opportunity to make a few extra clams.

Ìý

WALLACE AND GROMIT –
THE CURSE OF THE WERE RABBIT (TV première)

Ìý

In their first full-length feature film, cheese-loving Wallace and his ever-faithful dog, Gromit, set out to discover the mystery behind the garden sabotage that plagues their village and threatens the annual giant vegetable-growing contest.

Ìý

It's "vege-mania" in Wallace and Gromit's neighbourhood, and the two chums are cashing in with their human pest-control outfit, Anti-Pesto. With only days to go before the annual Giant Vegetable Competition, business is booming, but Wallace and Gromit find out that running a humane pest control outfit has its drawbacks, as their West Wallaby Street home fills to the brim with captive rabbits.

Ìý

Suddenly, a huge, mysterious, veg-ravaging "beast" begins attacking the town's sacred vegetable plots at night, and the competition hostess, Lady Tottington, commissions Anti-Pesto to catch it and save the day. Lying in wait, however, is Lady Tottington's snobby suitor, Victor Quartermaine, who'd rather shoot the beast and secure the position of local hero – not to mention Lady Tottington's hand in marriage. Little do they know that Victor's real intent could have dire consequences for Lady Tottington and our two heroes...

Ìý

Wallace And Gromit – The Curse Of The Were Rabbit features the voices of Peter Sallis, Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, Peter Kay and Liz Smith.

Ìý

Fans of the duo will receive a double-helping this Christmas – they can also be seen in the première of Wallace And Gromit – A Matter Of Loaf And Death on ±«Óãtv One.

Ìý

SUPERMAN RETURNS (TV première)

Ìý

After spending the last five years searching for remains of Krypton, Superman is back in Metropolis in this fantasy adventure film. Coincidentally, Clark Kent returns from travelling the remote regions of the world at the same time.

Ìý

Lois Lane has moved on with her life and is now married with a young son. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor has nefariously inherited the wealth and fancy small ship of an elderly widow, plus the crystals of Krypton that Superman had left in his polar hideaway. While Superman sets out to regain the world's (and Lois's) trust, Luthor's plans endanger the lives of billions as his audacious new scheme has global consequences.

Ìý

Brandon Routh stars as Superman and Clark Kent, Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, James Marsden as Richard White and Frank Langella as Perry White.

THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE (TV première)

Ìý

According to an old prophecy, Edmund, Lucy, Peter and Susan are the "chosen ones" who will defeat the Witch. They are assisted by the true ruler of Narnia, Aslan, the lion. With the good Narnians on their side, all four children must now defeat the witch using all their strength and fulfil their destinies to become the new kings and queens of Narnia.

Along the way, dashing Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and the beautiful Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) get caught up in the whirlpool of misadventures stirred up in Jack's quest to avoid eternal damnation by seizing the fabled Dead Man's Chest.

Ìý

Princess Fiona's parents invite their daughter and her new husband to a party in the Kingdom of Far Far Away, in order to celebrate their marriage. However, when they arrive at the castle, the King (John Cleese) and the Queen (voiced by Julie Andrews) are shocked to see their daughter is an ogre and her new husband is Shrek, not Prince Charming (Rupert Everett), whom she had been supposed to marry.

Ìý

The King had made a deal with the Fairy Godmother (Jennifer Saunders) that her son, Prince Charming, would marry Fiona, who would change back to a beautiful woman with one kiss from him. The King and Shrek clash during a family dinner and the King wants to get rid of him, so he hires a sword-fighting and ogre-slaying cat named Puss-In-Boots (Antonio Banderas) to kill Shrek...
