Around the Nations and Regions


This year's television Appeal Show will feature live entertainment from Belfast, Cardiff and Glasgow as well as broadcasts from a diverse range of venues around England including:

  • Sunderland Aquatic Centre features the region's first 10-lane, 50m pool and on Children in Need night it will host a "we are the champions" competition and a sponsored swim.
  • Ìý

  • Bridlington Spa Theatre is the home of ballroom dancing on the East coast. Presenters from ±«Óãtv Radio Humberside, ±«Óãtv Radio Lincolnshire and ±«Óãtv Look North plus hundreds of members of the public will dance to a live big band orchestra in a "Dancers in Need" contest.
  • Ìý

  • Wembley Arena is hosting Cliff Richard as part of his Time Machine Tour, celebrating his 50th anniversary in the music business. Over 300 people will be entertained by ±«Óãtv London in Wembley Arena Square and there will be lights and dancing fountains to set the scene.
  • Ìý

  • Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield is staying open late for a very special extravaganza of entertainment with music and dancing.

  • Dickens World at Chatham Maritime is the place to come to jump on board the Great Expectations Boat Ride for splashing good fun, take a trip back in time to a Victorian School and come face to face with some of Dickens' literary characters.

  • The Westfield shopping centre in Derby will be hosting Pudsey's Sci-Fi Party with local bands and judo jedi displays providing the entertainment.

  • Cambridge Outdoor Ice Rink in Parkers Piece is the location for an exclusive open-air ice rink party, with free ice skating. Next to the ice rink, the University Arms Hotel will be holding ±«Óãtv Radio Cambridgeshire's "Dancers in Need" contest.

  • Butlins at Minehead will see 5,000 people aiming to break the world record for the largest-ever pillow fight.
  • Ìý

  • Dingles Fairground Museum in Lifton is home to the National Fairground Collection, where visitors can enjoy the very old but still working rides, the side shows and crazy hall of mirrors in this special venue on the edge of Dartmoor.

  • Merry Hill Centre in Brierley Hill will host live entertainment including music and dancing and fun activities for all the family.
  • Ìý

  • Milestones Living History Museum in Basingstoke is the place to come and discover the past – inside a make-believe town where it never rains and there is no traffic congestion. Milestones houses more than 21,000 objects either made or used in Hampshire and dating back as far as the Victorian era.
  • Ìý

  • Chill Factor in Manchester is home to the UK's longest, and the world's widest, real snow indoor ski slope. Pudsey will be strapping on his skis for fun and fundraising in the snow.
