The ±«Óãtv Sport website bbc.co.uk/euro2008 will cover every kick of the European Championship in Austria and Switzerland this summer, with comprehensive coverage also available on mobile phones, making it easier than ever to follow the tournament – wherever you may be in the UK.

Live video coverage is available online in the UK for all the ±«Óãtv games and for the first time viewers will also be able to watch all the goals on a mobile. The ±«Óãtv will also be offering video highlights of every game on the web. And for the first time, users will be able to watch games broadcast live on ±«Óãtv One via iPlayer for up to seven days after transmission.

There will also be live text commentaries of every game from the audience's favourite contributors, plus photos of goals and key moments, and live stats updated as the game progresses.

Before the action even kicks off there's the chance to immerse yourself in the tournament with comprehensive information on all the 16 teams taking part available on the web and mobile devices.

Each team has its own section containing player profiles, history, qualification details, background statistics, news, reports, photos and quotes – updated throughout the tournament. Using the web's Squad Selector, fans can try their hand at management by choosing the line-up they think should start each game.

During games there's the chance to get involved on the web with the Player Rater, where fans can mark all the players in the game according to how well they think they're doing and see who users vote man of the match. Audio of ±«Óãtv Radio 5 Live's coverage will also be available online.

The Euro 2008 blog revives the highly successful World Cup 2006 blog. Throughout the tournament the best TV, radio and web writers bring you all the atmosphere and behind-the-scenes chat from the European Championship, sharing their thoughts and experiences and interacting with fans, who can post replies and comments online.

There are also plans for a daily behind-the-scenes Match Of The Day video for red button, web and mobile, plus Football Academy skills and tricks videos.

Plans are also afoot to make ±«Óãtv Sport's Euro 2008 coverage available on social networking sites, enabling users to sign up for news and chat updates on their favourite team to be delivered to their social networking profile.

±«Óãtvi will offer a 24-hour service via the red button. During live ±«Óãtv games viewers will be able to choose from an alternative (5 Live) commentary, catch-up highlights of the current match or highlights of the previous match.

Highlights of each match will be available soon after the final whistle and a choice of match highlights will run throughout the night and following morning so viewers won't miss any of the action.

For those who can't wait for the action to start, it all kicks off on the red button after England's friendly with USA on Wednesday 28 May with highlights from classic matches available up until the first game on Saturday 7 June.

For the first time, viewers will be able to watch the whole of the Euro 2008 tournament in High Definition on the ±«Óãtv's HD channel which is extending its normal hours to provide full coverage of the finals.

HD gives you exceptionally clear, crisp pictures with vivid colours. It's got up to five times more detail than standard definition television, which means viewers get really intense images and can follow the action as a "cinematic" TV experience.

±«Óãtv HD is available at the following EPG locations: Sky – 143; Virgin – 108; and Freesat – to be announced.

To watch the ±«Óãtv's HD channel, viewers will need an HD-ready TV and the right kind of cable or satellite digital box – from a supplier such as Sky, Virgin, or Freesat – which launches in May and will provide the ±«Óãtv HD channel on a subscription-free basis.
