Bradfield Woods National Nature Reserve is one of the UK's best woodland wildlife sites.

This ancient working wood dates back to 1252 when it supplied firewood and wood products for local people nearby.

Bradfield is the archetypal English lowland woodland, and is probably the best example in Britain of a traditionally managed wood.

Abernethy Forest in is one of the oldest woodlands in the Britain, renowned for its soaring Scots Pines, stunning Ospreys, and abundance of wildlife.

"I'm off on a woodland safari - and hoping to get sight of some of most colourful creatures.

"The other great thing about woodlands is that they offer little windows into the past. If you know what you're doing, you can even get a rough idea of how old a forest is - just by looking at your surroundings."
