This Friday is the ±«Óãtv’s annual Children in Need telethon appeal. See Hear recently visited one of the charities that received a donation from last year’s fundraising events. In today’s programme Radha joins deaf children from the Balloon Project in Cumbria at a residential centre in Keswick. The fun-packed weekend is part of the Balloon Project’s aims to improve opportunities and experiences for deaf youngsters in the region.

We also join HRH The Princess Royal at the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People Awards and pay tribute to the amazing animals that make such a difference to their owners’ lives.

being hard of hearing myself i see points of views from both sides.
i have just watched the episode of deaf people having there say and the right to be heard and have the right to express there opion with regards to voting ect and standing in parliment being deaf or hard of hearing using bsl.
i feel that that any one should have the right to be in any job if they are able to do the job dispite there disabilty.
if some one is deaf but can clearly do the job then they should be allowed to do so or this would be discrimination.
if i wanted to stand in paliment dispite my difficulties i should be allowed and not pushed aside its not right or fair.
i also feel that bsl being a nationally recognised language should be taught in schools as there are so many people in our country that are deaf or hard of hearing. they teach french and we dont speak to french people every day its ridiculas.
its important for children to learn bsl, as so many people are either deaf or hard of hearing and its that common you could bump into some one down your local shops or a nighbour ect. so why not change teaching french to bsl. will definatly be of more use for sure.
