(In a Geordie Accent a la Big Brother): Day Six In The Breakfast Show House ...

Chris Evans | 10:30 UK time, Monday, 18 January 2010

Loving the show more and more by the day, and incredibly also still remembering to breathe - long may it continue. Genuinely hearing great things about Sir Tel's new Sunday morning programme, can't wait for it to smash up the airwaves starting Sunday Feb 14.

It's a bit of a pea souper here on the A40 on the way home - wasn't expecting that: although we have been let in by 3 happy motorists on this National Let People In Day.

Keep the posts and tweets a coming, as everything is now ammo for the show, harmless ammo of course !

Car shop, home, kettle, toast - book number 2 ! My life for the next three months. Car shop, only a one off for today sadly.

    Hi Chris

I did laugh this morning when you said Tash's car had to go to make way for some more CLP Toys!

Great show this morning, and the listener content is definitely enhancing the Breakfast experience!!

Good Morning Christoph, Bloggers & Blogettes :)

I walk to work so did not have a change to let a car in - however I did hold open the front door of the office and "let" someone go in before me :)

What a lovely morning to start this week...

    Hi CLP and everyone else

Love the idea of let people in day - I do that whenever I can and love the feeling when it is acknowledged in some way. I hate the bargers though - the ones who feel as if it their right to go in front of me so push in.

Posted a long ramble on the previous blog - it took so long to compose that this one had already started.

    Keep smiling

Know, sorry now, ave taken the teem ter go through the blog & say thanks ter each but am bound ter ave missed one thanks even though ave read ALL blogs... thus for all me teem spent thanking each a will probably end up offending a blog pal for forgeetting ter mention them... Whereas if a 'ad just said a quick thanks ter all.... a wouldn't ave offended that blog pal.... But then if a don't say thanks ter all then a feel am being ungrateful & noot az nice az a should be ter say thanks ter each.... But then am worried will some think that by me saying thanks ter each.... then am being egotistical & a should ave just said a quick thanks ter all rather than ter each!!!!
    A can't win whatta do all/ each.... can't win!!!!!!

    Chow!

PS This week a will bang on the blog me New Year Revolvolutions.... but noot in an egotistical way!!!!!!

Noticed your tweet too Deevs, you are norty.

Yesterday I enjoyed a long walk in the lovely weather, went to a pub, read the paper and thought "so this is what normal people do on a Sunday" instead of spending their day in the saddle like I usually do, could get used to it you know.

Anyway, i'd better get out of my pj's and head out for another box of tissues....sniff.

This blog has always been cliquey, anyone remember the Blog Mafia debate?

That was OK because people still posted even if they didn't feel part of the clique.

The thing which really changed the dynamic of the blog was the advent of the 'blog meet'. Once people had actually met it all became more personal with far more 'one to one conversations' going on and a lot less general discussions. I feel that this alienated some people.

In my opinion the whole O2 invitation thing was a mistake and in effect put the official seal of approval on the 'us and them' aspect of the blog. This was shown by the 'we want our blog back' postings last week.

I realise that this adds nothing new to the debate but, as a long time poster I just wanted to add my bit.

    Hi Chris,

I just have to say how much I am loving the show - it's going from strength to strength. Everything is working really well now, and I feel such a part it, even though I have contributed nothing! Hope this makes sense! Loved the story about Gavin. Been there, got an entire drawer-full of T-shirts!

Tash: hope you get a suitable replacement for your wee car, which you must have been so sad to say goodbye to!

The thing about being let in is that you shouldn't expect it as your right or it could get you in trouble! Was driving along at about 25mph this morning and someone pulled out right in front of me from a side road and I had to slam on the breaks, just because I happened to be nearing the back of a queue and slowing down. Would always let someone in usually, but that annoyed me!

    Great show CLP as usual.

  • Comment number 20.

    Afternoon all,

Tried my best to follow the "National let People in Day", but was jolted back to sad reality by one of those annoying (very young) bargers on a queuing roundabout! Gave him a little toot (only a little one!), and did get a wave of apology (I think!) - so maybe that counts!!

Barney - I know what you're saying, but in my experience every interactive chat board like this is a bit cliquey and very personal in places. But...I have to say that the regulars on here seem a pretty friendly and welcoming bunch...

There's always the alternative of either staying away, or just reacting to Chris's blog and ignoring everyone else.

Fingers crossed for a good week!

  • Comment number 21.

Barney Upon Seven & MWa from the other dee - A now, sorry know, what yer sayin' about the blog often being somewhat cliquey - ave spent alotta teem wretting thanks ter all & nobody yet 'as said thanks for saying thanks ter me thanks!!!!!!
Maybe nobody 'as noticed me BIG thanks blog!!!!!!
Same when a put me jokes on!!!!!!

But then if alotta bloggies do say thanks for me saying thanks... then if a don't say thanks ter them for saying thanks ter me saying thanks... then maybe they will think am thankless... and going cliquey style!!!!!

Maybe it's just the nature of the BIG beast that iz the CLP Radio Blog!!!!!

Baggy - you ok? I can't offer to knit as I'm a clumsy auld southpaw and to be quite frank, anyone seeing me trying to knit has to be locked in a padded cell whilst they overcome their non-stop laughing at my efforts.

    I can cook tho .....

I would love to comment on everyone's posts, all day long, but my memory isn't that good.

Anyhoooo, I've been chatting to a friend today who has a real problem in her life. A biggie to deal with and she's chosen to share it with me, which in a weird way, makes me feel kind of honoured to be trusted and needed by her. Suffice to say, her problem has really put stuff into perspective this morning so any talk of cliquiness, clubs etc etc on here are now well and truly out of my mind.

I've been having fun on this blog for gawd knows how long, and intend to continue henceforth. If you don't like it, scroll on down.

Ok, I'm liking the show more and more today but find that I'm still flitting between Radio 1 and Radio 2. Loved the National Let People In feature and even tried it myself. Not much love from the BMW drivers though who seem to think they can barge their way through without even looking at you! Does give you a warm feeling though when you get even the smallest acknowledgement.

Have read all the stuff about cliques and, as a newbie, it does seem a bit impenetrable, but time will tell.

Great show as ever.. had mixed reception to the letting in thing this morning and was nearly side swiped off the m`way last night by a non-indicator (Yes, it was a BMW LaurN and i also used to drive one so dont alienate them intentionally!).... INDICATORS ARE NOT AN OPTIONAL EXTRA AND THEY DONT WASTE THE BATTERY...PLEASE USE THEM!

    Bonjour Monsieur Lamby Pie,

Just a quickie, not wishing to blow smoke up your nether regions, but I'm seriously loving the show. The alarm's set 15 minutes earlier than last year, I'm early to work as a result and the smile has lasted 'till Mr Mayo picks up the reins and takes me home again.

Glad to hear your finishing the other half of your book! I was getting worried when I was down to the last 100 pages and realized this was either vol 1 or you were going to try to squeeze every subsequent year on just 4 pages each!

Looking forward to cooking my Sunday roast with Sir Tel, just not enough smut and innuendo recently!

Keep doing what you do best and loving it all!

The OH and I used to have a theory that cars only got their indicators delivered after 3 years or so. That was until I got a new car and guess what? the indicators were there after all.....

Seriously though it always seems to be newer cars which have the d*ds driving them who think they own the road and think that you are psycic (sp) when driving behind them or trying to get on to a roundabout that they are coming round.

Today is a very slow one, I'll be glad to leave work this evening.

ALthough mine is only 10 months old and also had indicators from new...as did my last car (aforementioned BMW..) ..the look of shock from other drivers was when it indicated! Although, as i have said on here before.. everything is pretty much an optional extra on the things so think some think they didnt have them!

Nic..loved driving mine but glad i`m now back to FWD after the white stuff! I also get bored very easily... have started looking for a new car already and know what i want....will try to make it to 2 yrs with this one but dont hold out much hope..i`m a dealers dream!

Can I just say thanks to everyone for their lovely messages for Sunday. MrS and I had such a great time. He had to work yesterday, so we had a "kitchen party" on Saturday night to celebrate. Kitchen stools out, fairy lights on, wine poured, and some really terrific music. Everything from the Sugababes (MrS is a fan - I wonder why?!) to David Bowie, to Paolo Nutini!

Catching up with the blog over the weekend. Well, this is my take on it. I cannot begin to count how many times I have written, specifically, to some of the bloggers and have not received a reply. Now, I do think that if a blogger addresses you SPECIFICALLY, or gives you some advice or whatever, it is only manners to reply. However, if you are coming on to say "just popped a washing on" then of course no reply is necessary. It's just some good old chit-chat and there's nothing wrong with that!

However, even if I have "spoken" to someone and they don't reply, I simply accept that they haven't seen it/forget that I've said it/whatever.

As for the blog changing because of the "meets" - I don't agree at all. I think the blog is greatly enhanced because we are all getting to know each other a bit better. The O2 gig was a fantastic gift to the blog from Chris Evans. Any long-time blogger who wanted to attend, just had to ask, I am sure of that.

It's very difficult to avoid being critical of some of the stuff being written here. I scroll down the bloggers that I know I don't want to read, and,I am sure some people scroll down from my comments.

So, the blog is what it is. Some days absolutely terrific, and other days, a tad difficult, like today!

Just have to say to Bingo: what a great post! And how lovely that so many people wished you a happy birthday! Glad to hear you had a nice time with Mr & Mrs Baggy.

P.S. I can confirm that Mary's man is absolutely gorgeous! I mean, we are talking gorgeous!

I'm not the first person to say this over the last few days, but why do some people still insist on representing everyone on the blog by saying 'we all .....'

  • Comment number 71.

Debbie C: jolly good luck to you!

Scoobs: no worries - I know, it is very frustrating when you can read the blog, but can't comment on it!

Annie: I was thinking, I wonder how MrS would feel if I invited everyone back for a kitchen party, after the Glasgow blog meet?! Oooh, and I know, you can't wait to see "the man". When we were leaving the O2, I did rather think he was talking to Mary for quite a long time!

Dorset: you have summed today up perfectly: wading through treacle!

Apologies Barney... my mistake. The people who want to be on there are on there..thats probably better phrased. Although it does seem that most regular contributors are over there. But, first time ive used that and youve correctly picked me up on it. Wont happen again. Sorry.
