Rah Rah, here it comes again, here it comes again.

Chris Evans | 16:42 UK time, Friday, 13 March 2009

Weekend guys but first...

...raced into London to get a bet on the Gold Cup. Was late late late, so despatched Marky Mark to the bookies whilst I listened to the racer on me pal's computer... two ferlongs from the end of the race the computer froze...

Ended up looking at a load of Le Mans posters instead then found out the result and realised we'd lost, but then Marky Mark turned up and said he hadn't been able to put the bet on on time anyway.

So thirty quid to the better we've banged the lot on the Euro millions. Spent the last half an hour wondering what we're going to do with 14 mill jackpot - back to the poster shop for me!

Alright, so half a Mars Bar and a cup of tea down and all the yes/no list of the week sorted and we're just about ready for ALL REQUEST.

The rest of the team all did get their bets on by the way and are all more or less in the pink, especially Scouse Sarah who dabbed right on with the first three.

Have a fab weekend and see you at the Supercar Mullberry Sunday if you're coming, it's early so no slouching.

CLP.

    Morning!

Have a great time in Brum yous lot. Behave yourselves and keep yer 'and on yer ha'pennies.

Me, I've a heavy weekend behind the sewin' machine and am rather looking forward to it if I'm honest. For 10 years I've declared I'd not be forced to get said machine out except at gunpoint but am secretly getting the yearning again. So with the GD safely ensconced to her mate's wedding in the Lakes in the posh frock and with the fruity fascinator draped attractively over the shiner, and Renee preoccupied with the perils of the low-energy lightbulbs, I've a bit of peace to vent me creativity.

And I don't want to be disloyal to the Evans brothers but I'm rootin' for the Irish.
Go, BOD, hurrah. Shan't be puttin' any bets on, mind. Get meself in too much bother that way.

Right. Off to set up. Where's me scissors. And given that I'm a bit rusty I'd best get me suit of armour out that I wore to Baz's fancy dress party last year. There's a visor on the helmet that will protect me from projectile needles. Hope it fits over me glasses.

    Morning All,

Great comic relief - what a result! Good show this year, laughing one minute and crying the next. Heartbreaking to see those wee babies who suffered and lost their lives, still crying about it this morning!

Have a brilliant time in brum folks, look forward to seeing the piccies.

    Have a good weekend.

    Clodagh,

    Enjoy your sewing!

My Mum was fantastic, I wish I had inherited her creativity but sadly I haven't. I do have one of her sewing machines but I'm ashamed to admit I have never used it. I live in hope that one day I will wake up and be inspired to have a go. I think as a child seeing my Mum sitting at the machine for hours and hours put me off for life!

    Enjoy the rugby!

Sorry I don't get to blog much these days, I never get the chance from work but I always catch up eventually and do think of you all. xx

    Mary xx

  • Comment number 72.

    Mary.

Yes, it's strange isn't it; the GD was never, ever inspired to take up the thimble although fascinated and totally into my efforts down the years. I guess it's something you either do or don't get.

And to be truthful for a moment, she is absolutely delighted that I'm moving back in that direction; she maintains it's a tragedy that I gave it up at all, and has always and unfailingly been a little driving force behind me to return to designing. I, however, feel that I now have a new perspective and would have a completely different attitude this time round, so that, unlike the old self and your dear mummy, shan't be slaving away in a labour of love for little financial return, but would value my efforts and charge good, hard cash. Take it or leave it.

Anyway, we'll see. I should add that a couple weeks ago I went to London Fashion Week, and whereas I loved it, I was disturbingly transported back into all the reasons why I fled from it in the first place.

The high-end fashion business is fantastically exciting, yes.. but it's also very ruthless and dark, and The Devil Wears Prada is actually not that far off the mark.

So I'll be stickin' to my small productions. A little square peg in a square hole this time.

And still beating me own eggs.

Hi MwK! Good to hear from you. We had a nice walk though the cemetery and planted some little narcissus flowers for him. We're going to chose the stone this coming week now that it's settled and I think having it all sorted will be a blessing for Mum as it feels half finished at the mo. I'll say hello to everyone at the meet later on from you and be sure to take lots of pics.

Comic relief - what a fab night - and how amazing that they/we raised so much money. Loved it all.

    Debs, how you doing today?

Here's hoping the meet is going well!

Bingo - what was all that about??? Mustamissed the footie results I guess.

Clodagh, if you've still got the machine out I've got some trousers that need taking up!!

Hello Tinsel, just a quick visit hope to catch up here later.

Tried very hard today. Had a really bumpy start to the day. Took LM out with my mum for the afternoon and he had a lovely time.

I didn't cry when Mr Debbie but LM did!

    Catch up soon x

    Evening each

Hope your day is getting better Debbie.

Out today with shopaholic friends, gawd my feet are sore - and there's something wrong with my back!

Off for a bath. If I'm not back in an hour - send help.

Hi Debs and Annie. Just settling down to watch lets dance for comic relief - I know how to live ha ha!

Debs, hope you had a lovely day too, not just LM! Were you at the sanctuary or did you go somewhere else?

I had a good day. Planted up some pots so hopefully more green things will be growing soon, then took doggy for a long walk with a friend I hadn't seen for ages, and it was really lovely, esp as the sun shone all day.

I'm now really pleasantly tired, and feel like I deserve a glass or two of red!

Annie, hope you managed to get out of the bath ok!!!

    Hi Tinsel,

I'm watching that too, thought Paddy and Keith were brilliant! Hilarious! They managed the lift too!

Are you still following Monty? Looking forward to tomorrow's show.

Anne - Do you need help?

    Managed to scramble out Tins.

The sore back is crying out for a glass of red, will maybe finish off the Comic Relief bottle.

Isn't it nice to plant up the pots? I won't be doing it just now as am moving house in the next few weeks, but I've already planned the planting for the new house.

Thanks Mary. Drowning, not waving, came to mind. Between the back and the feet, I'm hanging by a thread!

    Am watching it too.

I really miss having a garden, live in a flat and don't really have anywhere to put pots. Hopefully moving this year - fingers crossed!

    Anne,

Did you watch the Kilimanjaro climb? Gary Barlow had a really bad back and one of the other celebs had some tiger balm with them which he used on his back and it really helped.

In the meantime hope the wine helps to ease it :o) xx

Oooh, I did Mary, forgotten that. I don't have any here but, if the back's no better tomorrow, could always phone youngest - he'd get it for me at the local health food shop.

As for tonight, will see if the wine helps.

    Ere Tins yous cheeky monkey.

Never mind your trousers. Renee the ruthless opportunist has bin hoverin' round behind me like a little white-haired vulture clutchin' the elasticated-waist jeans she bought from Marks, that ruckle up a bit over her funky little velcro trainers and want a bit loppin' off. (Did I tell yous she's a Funky Rock Nan by the way. Jeans at 85. She's a big fan of McFly too. Oh yes. Lovely Boys.)

Anyway if she doesn't bugger off I'll be pullin' 'er jumper up over her head and stitchin' that. Ah no, she's back again with the bathroom curtains and the trousers that she split when she ill-advisedly tried to use her wheelie shopping bag as a laundry basket whilst peggin' her smalls out in the back garden.

Honestly. It's just as well the neighbour was out or she'd still be out there stranded on her back like a beetle and roarin', with the trolley and assorted big knickers on top of her.

Right. Am going to have to take emergency measures to distract her. Where's that CD I got 'er, Wartime Memories by Vera Lynn.

Mary, I am still watching Monty. PHWOAR is all I am going to say on the matter!!

Clodagh, love the sound of funky rocking Renee. Have to admit, have hovered round the elastic-waists in M&S myself, but have managed to restrain myself.

Middle grandson gave me a tattoo the other day, does that count in being a rocking gran?

  • Comment number 98.

LOL Clodagh, just spat out me wine at the thought of Renee falling through her shopping trolley!!!

Annie, you SO sound like a rocking gran!!!

My aunty is a rocking aunty - she's 82 and still e-mails and texts me all the time!! Don't think my mum has even touched a computer!

    Phwoar indeed Tinsel!

Clodagh - wish I had Renee as a neighbour :o)

Anne you are definitely a rockin gran!

I think Paddy and Keith should win for doing the lift.
