To be fair to Nick I dont think we were ever going to win it this year. Would it have actually made any difference if we had Harrington, Westwood (both of who did have problems neck problems and tonsillitis and were being prank called) and Poulter at the top of the order? We still lost by 5 clear points and I dont think ordering was going to make any difference.

The whole sandwhich order thing was a stupid thing to do though... that really didnt help the teams morale in my eyes.

From the pictures I've seen the 2010 Celtic Manor course looks spectacular and it is going to be a great event! I'm going to try and get down there myself hopefully!

A tad harsh I think.

But we knew whatever Faldo did he would be pilloried for it as unfortunately it is what this country likes to do.

He has spent the last 2 weeks being slated for picking Poulter who went out and played out of his skin and got 4 points.

His pick of Casey was approved of but he continued to display poor form and lost games he could have won. Very sad for possibly the most talented Englishman.

He rested players while USA did not rest Mickleson - who was right and who was wrong ask Justin Rose?

Finally he did what we thought he would not - he got the team involved in the decision making, surely that has to be right not wrong?

We did not lose because of Faldo we lost as the USA had home advantage, the captain had 4 picks and Tiger was not there to disrupt the team. We were also not helped by underperforming big names -Sergio, Harrington and Westwood.

As a final thought I found the event enthralling as games ebbed and flowed and the final score bears no reflection to how on a knife edge the whole thing was.

Not a golf fan meself - ruination of a good walk is my description, however I feel slightly sorry for Faldo - what ever he did was going to be wrong I think he was brave not to follow the concenus and give some others the chance. Its the same old story in sport allround - the same people get picked and the young ones don't get the chance to prove themselves until suddenly the "old boys (and girls)" are over the hill and we find our selves at the bottom of the tables and have to claw our way up again. Managers are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I agree with nev r forget - Faldo was picked so we should go with his decision and style of leadership - lets face facts that Europe was beated fairly and squarely by a good team performance by USA when it mattered and i strongly agree that the absence of TW helped bond the US together - the home state boys played out of their skins and the crowd got behind them. I'm a little upset that Westwood is starting to carp on after the event blaming the crowd.

Crazy golf's the only golf for me. Hitting it round the corner, up the ramp, into the net, in one door and out the other, arguing about how many goes you've had...

Tom, go for it. I had an absolute ball at university (we didn't call it uni then, and I just can't say it, in the same way physically cannot say "cool" meaning great). Then again as a music student I only had 7 hours lectures a week! The medics and engineers hated us! Maths, loadsa work I guess but as someone else said you'll never be short of opportunities and offers.

It's sooooooooooo dark here. Not raining but really moody skies. Have a horrid feeling it's going to be a wet drive home at half past ....

The wedding we went to in April was at a fairly posh venue. They did the civil ceremony, Bucks Fizz and canapes whilst the photo man was doing his thang, then we had a fab 3 course sit down meal. I think they paid about 60 squids per person. Not sure if this involved the evening disco fella or not. I'd also guess the wine consumed with the meal was extra. Bizarrely, our table got thru a fair few bottles ......

For our wedding we held the reception at a local hotel. We were charged the price per head for the meal which was about £22/head and got the venue free. We supplied vino at a corkage of £4.50/bottle but local supermarket was doing great deals on good wine limited to so many per customer so roped in Old granny and her cronies to gather enough boxes for the wedding. ( Pensioners have their uses:)) The hotel had a bar at the reception so i suppose they made their money there.

Fraid ours was limited number wise but great hotel near top of Malvern Hills - cracking 4 course meal and we agreed to pay for wine/port as was drunk - problem was guests didn't know the latter so just kept drinking - the booze cost us more than whole of rest put together! aaargh!

Local hotel also for us next year. We're only having close family and mates for the reception, then a big party in the evening with a ceildgh band (I know that's not how you spell it) and a bit of a kneesup disco thingy afterwards. I haven't totted it all up yet but it is at most half what you're saying BP and probably a lot less.

Second time around so no too bothered about all the little extras, and there certainly won't be a bagpiper in sight! Instead of favours I think we'll have those little stocking fillers from Hawkins Bazzar!

Good luck finding a venue, but remember it's the people there that matter most!

What is your local village/town hall like? A friend of mine hired our local one for a few days (day before, the day, day after) and got a local hotel to do the catering and bar. It took a bit of effort to decorate, and set up the day before and also to tidy up the day after but it was a lot cheaper than other so called "venues"

I'm assuming and i could well be wrong that the £110-150 ph is the total price including the evening do and all the food and the like.

What we did for ours was only have a buffet for 60% of the people attending ie 100 people attending just have a buffet for 60. you'll find that will be enough (unless you have some greedy pigs attending) whereabouts in the coutry are you though as it might well be the right price for say lodon and home counties)

Have a rather smart little box thingy with compartments filled with out of date bills etc. And a poly bag filled with the last 3 years stuff which wouldn't fit into the rather smart........

Had a call from the health visitor yesterday, making an appointment to come and see me at home next Monday. Suddenly there is a new urgency to the tidying up.... she would be horrified if she came and saw the house in the state it's currently in...

Been a busy morning, which is great - it's disappeared to goodness knows where. But I feel absolutely pants today. Not firing on all cylinders. Not my usual 100%.

If I could, I'd go home NOW, get the duvet off the bed, drag it downstairs and wade thru a few girly girl Hugh Grant type film things. And perhaps re-visit my Take That Beautiful World tour DVD - the extras bit where they all get noodey into an ice bath (smiling just thinking about that now!!)

Mr Diva and me are off out tonight: it's Rich Hall night. Hopefully a dose of good, raucous stand up comedy will do me good.

Also had a lovely email exchange with the Divine Ms Hazel Love earlier. She's very very busy at the mo, but is definitely coming to Docklands on 11th Oct. Hurrah!!

I don't think I'm a snob but Supermarkets are very class driven in someways. I went to Asda on a Sunday once and there in the Cafe were loads of people having as much as you can possibly eat Sunday Roast, in a grim windowless Cafe.
Women with kids in Trollies the size of a mountain telling their kids to F off.

I never went there again.
