In the buff, in the hot tub, in the pub and Scouting for Beers.

Chris Evans | 16:37 UK time, Thursday, 28 August 2008

What a...

...total and utter laff.

We had a riot yesterday in the hot tub but I have never been so dehydrated and then re-hydrated with all the wrong stuff.

The boys from the band came with and stayed way beyond what was good for them considering they had a video shoot for their new single at 6 a.m. this morning.

Can't remember much else other than Nick Faldo's son turning up for some reason!

Hot tub looked sad and lonely this morning, another spent force used up and washed out by this merciless industry we call showbizz.

Another special follows tonight. How can we do a normal show after two belters already this week.

I am anticipating 2 hours full of Sugarbabes and Girls Aloud. I think Alice may well be the only song I am likely to enjoy.

There's me, being an old oldie g*t!

    MW, a!

  • Comment number 2.

    I hope not...

Good start so far though! There must be parents all around the country asking their kids to request songs so hopefully we should get a good bunch!

    (Loved the staycation...)

  • Comment number 3.

    Hello guys

Think yourself lucky, if little man was requesting you would all be listening to Wake Me Up Before You Go Go before 7pm!

    Debbie x

  • Comment number 4.

I am wondering why the kids are all so middle class? Are they real or from some stage school I wonder.

  • Comment number 5.

    Hi Chris

How come you've just had 2 weeks away in a hot country and you're as white as that!!

    Keep up the good work.

    Hope Enzo's doing well

    I'M 40 TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know why I felt the need to put that in capitals... A little hysterical methinks?

    Right, where's that polyfilla?!!!

    Hi Chris
    Great music tonight.
We shared a great hot tub on the verandah of Morning Mist on Vancouver Island - absolutely fab - wonderful sunset watching the sun going down over the Pacific!

Happy birthday Pandagirl! 40 is the new 20, actually it's not, it's better. 40 is fine, I got there three years ago and still only two white hairs per year!

    Enjoy yourself!

Happy 40th panda, I also turned 40 three years ago....nothin to it. In fact, I think as you get older life becomes more fun. Also more emotion kicking around, but that adds to the fun.....so welcome on board the number 40 something bus....we're just driving around wondering where we're headed.

Blog gone very quiet last few days....not much fun for us that like to just lurk around sometimes as not enough time to start the whole sign in stuff! where d'ya all go? Just cos CtD off for few days!!!???? we lurkers still expecting reading material, contrary to others opinions!!! (that's my controversial line for the day!)

Had lovely walk with Alf tonight. Went to leafy walk next to river and was right up close to a heron. Thought it would stay all night. Never managed to see one up so close. It just delicately padded through the water. Then a fish jumped. Felt all in touch with nature. Then 4 human beans came along and scared him off....not intentional like! Ahhh, Alf thankfully did not spot said heron. He was off sniffing the usual spots....

Right off to get some 'stuff' done. And as it Thirsty Thurs, off to have nice cold gls of Pinot!!!

  • Comment number 13.

Ah dreamer, you kind of said what I have been thinking too.

I have felt a bit uncomfortable about posting due to recent comments on here.
I sometimes type a post then delete it and walk away.

I also have things going on at home that are making it hard to concentrate on what's going on in here. Obviously so not going to pour my heart out on here, learnt that the hard way lol!

I popped in recently, noticed very few posts and little to read. Although the posts that were here were great ones.

I thought to myself that I would rather come here and find loads of posts to trawl through, maybe skip through if necessary, than find nobody posting at all.

    Anyway, that's just my opinion.

    Debbie x

  • Comment number 14.

    Ditto ditto ditto Debs.

Well hopefully our posts will encourage those that feel the same. But we shouldn't let few with limited views change things.

And it was often the outpouring of people's hearts as well as the fun stuff that could lift spirits. Everyone has things going on that are tough...that's life and although it means if you're feeling it you're most def alive this blog can help! Since I joined I've had number of difficult things going on. Some still hanging around.

So. share Debs and if you don't feel like it then know that all on here care. Sending you big hugs.

Ps ....and I think with this so called credit crunch (who on earth thought up that phrase should be out of a job!!!) a lot of others will be dealing with tough stuff.

  • Comment number 15.

    Hey Debs and Dreamer!

Im here - does that count?!

I think its been difficult to find which flaming blog to comment/write on in the last few days! thats why i didnt post last night anyway...well that and the fact that i flaked out on the sofa - sober by the way!

If anyone wants to know how many clothes i have gotten rid off and how many cupboards i have cleared out then please yell and ill tell u all!

watching Gok on a catch up and Mock the week at 9 - life is good! Oh, and making most of it cos i think my remote shall be mostly taken over by GM from next week - and perfectly happy for that to happen as it means i get to see him more - sad i know!

Thanks for the offers of fb chats girls, I shall absolutely bear that in mind.

Btw: Did I hear Chris earlier saying that he was giving a young caller his speedos? That is so funny, can you imagine them going into school next week and telling their mates that? Bet the mum keeps them ;-)

Hope he knows how honoured he is! he also has two bedside drawers and a shelf in the bathroom - i think im doing it wrong somewhere..i even moved my somewhat large collection of handbags, which probably have the same mortgage paying ability as ur clothes!

Have you learned nothing from this blog?

You don't just let us know you are 40 on the day.

You start the build up several weeks in advance then build to a crescendo on the day itself.

Post birthday, you tell us how great it was and how many prezzies, cards and balloons you got from all your many admirers.

If your old man then has a birthday shortly afterwards so much the better. Then you let us know plan for your weekend in a big city of your choice so that we can post about what we think you are up while you are not posting.

This of course keeps your name alive even though you are not here.

Hope this helps anyone else approaching the big 40 (other birthdays are available).

Why is it that whenever a new poster arrives who is less than sycophantic towards one of the 'cool kids' then it assumed that Prof Plum has had another 'Dr Who' moment.

Some of you just cant seem to get it that there may be more than one person in the whole wide world who does not share your views.

So just for the record I am not the next reincarnation of PP.

  • Comment number 77.

I didn't coin the phrase, somebody else on here did a couple of days ago.

They were worried about not being accepted by 'the cool kids of the blog'.

So why don't you take it up with them?

  • Comment number 78.

kyle - I suggest you take a deep breathe and calm down - I don't see where you have taken offense from and just because someone call people the 'cool kids' doesn't mean you should copy them, I think we decided that most of us (my self 100% included in this) are definately uncool and proud of it!

please, we want to hear your thoughts on CLP's blog or what is going on in your life but (and I will put my heard over the parapet) i think you are being catty and I cannot understand why -

  • Comment number 79.

Look, I have tried and tried to just ignore this, but what absolutely fascinates me about KyleSimons, PP, and TTT is why they continue to read this blog. Hey, eejits, you know what this blog is about - what, exactly, do you WANT people to talk about? SO WHAT if people talk about spuds - would you rather they were swapping stories about porn?

And I'll tell you something - any day now this blog is going to be shut down. When that happens, I hope you'll be proud of yourselves - you are typical bullies - you will just grind and grind until you destroy.
Well, until that happens, you're just gonna have to put up with more stories about spuds and birds.

    Losers!

Good morning my little love spuds!

I keep coming back and hoping that the nasties will have gone away, but they're still here - WHY????

I bet CLP is sad to know that some of his listeners are so mean (if indeed you do listen - if you do, please try and get a little bit of Chris's joy for life from now on???)

ARF - State of independence by Donna Summer please??

KyleSimons??? Are you confusing your spelling and mixed up your name and you are actually Simon Cowell???? Oh of course not as he has a sense of humour, albeit he does get bit grumpy with peeps from time to time.

Anyway thank you for mixing it up here on CLP's friendly blog. As already said, by others, if you want a blog to do what you do best on, then go elsewhere. There's plenty of them around. If you want to be thought provoking then afraid you're missing the point with your comments KS. Debate not slating others is the point. (don't take lesson from our politicians!!!)

Right all other friendly bloggers. Happy Friday. Alf and I got off to muddy start, so showered him down and now he has that mad runny about thing going on....hilarious!!

Got busy old day and weekend here so prob not around much. So have great one all and enjoy your Friday wine club. Scoob and I had our own mini thurs one!!! Cheers.

Pandagirl, hope that you had a great birthday.

Differences in opinion are healthy of course.

I don't like Emmerdale, so I don't watch it. I don't watch it everyday and then constantly complain that I don't like it.

I don't like the Sun newspaper, so I don't read it, I don't buy it.

Constructive criticism always wellcome but I think that we get the point now guys.

Some people come in here and don't like what they read. We get it.

How many times can people say change the subject, post something that you want to talk about?

Sorry for the rant. Had to get it off my chest.

    Debbie.

PS: Hi Tinsel, haven't seen you here for ages.

Good for you PP, sleepwise I mean, wish I could say the same, but watching Psycho last night over-stimulated my brain.

So I was lying there mulling things over and I thought about a comment that went unanswered yesterday. Somebody referred to the "middle classiness" of the children on last night's show.

Can we all please admit the fact that, by and large, Radio 2 (including CLP's fabulous show) is indeed a middle class domain. Posh food, fast cars, expensive hobbies abound.

We all like to think we are caring and sharing, and I'm sure we are all "lovely" etc etc and I know that most of us aren't loaded. But I would imagine that the vast majority of people who listen to the show are, in modern terms, middle class. Or aspire to be. This may not sit comfortably with those of us who do not read the Daily Mail (unless they come across it at their Mum's house, that doesn't count), but nevertheless it is true.

I taught in an inner city primary school in a very deprived area so I do know what I'm talking about.

Right, barbecue tonight with organic farmshop burgers, homemade salsa and home grown rocket - yummy!

    Ciao,

    A x

Nasty Alert - look away now if you feel you may be offended.

As far as I am aware this place is provided by the ±«Óãtv to comment on the blog posted each day by Mr Evans. The fact that some people treat it as a private chatroom does not alter that fact.

I will continue to post as long as the ±«Óãtv allow me, if you dont like that, tough luck I'm afraid. Just ignore me.

I'm glad that someone finds me absolutely fascinating.

However I cannot seem to recall the post where I advocated a discussion about porn!

Actually the 'spuds' in question are a pre teen level double entendre, so don't accuse me of lowering the tone.

Yours in a state of Zen like serenity..

Time for a cup of coffee and a couple of Garabaldi biscuits.

    Tinsel

Take a chill pill. The Blog is a community of comments. Bloggers like myself enjoy reading Chris's blog and many other contributions from members of the Public. Bloggers of note for humour for me would be TTT, Dr Mc Crumble, Clodagh, Moose, KYLE(COULD IT BE JEREMY) EJR and perhaps others I have missed out on.

Not everybody want's to chat in a humourous way however and that is not a bad thing. Serious comments or people just reaching out with a problem they can talk about virtually occasionally that's life.

What is a shame though, is when the blog turns into into comments such as "Your go on scrabs.. surely that is not a good thing".

Also I am a huge fan of Radio 2 and always listen to Chris and Steve Wright when I can because they are simply the best.. oh that's a good Arf Choice.

Thank you for your kind words re: MrsW and the jam-eaters, I am very lucky to have been blessed with my family.

Couldn't sleep again after last nights work, 2 more to go too! Now off with said family to shop, we have some holiday winnings to spend!

I am refraining from mentioning 'the gift' as best I can, but I am still sooooo excited, and humbled to be chosen to receive something.

    Ho hum.

Plum I just have to answer that one. As far as I'm concerned, this blog is a friendly place. I've said it loads of times before, people who come here can expect laughs, sympathy, support ... - I have had all three and much more so many times over the time I've been blogging - but not nasty sniping and rude comments about other people. Life really is too short.

    Only my opinion obviously.

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Comment number 91.

Hello all. Haven't blogged for a while, because I found all the sniping really quite depressing. I have been lurking however, and found a blog a few days ago by Tough_Task_Ted quite illuminating (Ted, I hope you don't mind me reproducing part of it here):

"It is certainly not the place of anybody who posts on here to tell somebody to go elsewhere because they do not like what they have posted.

Likewise nobody can dictate what the ambience of the blog is to be. Some want it to be light and fluffy, and others want something a bit more serious. Surely a blend of the two would merely relect real life."

Now, I have had some trouble with some of Ted's posts in the past, but wholeheartedly agree with his sentiment here, and think it should apply to everyone. Differences of opinion should be welcomed, but could we please not descend to insults (either direct or implied, because even if they're implied we can all usually guess at whom they're directed) because there's really no need.

    Thank you.

ps hope everyone is in fine form and looking forward to the weekend.

AF - I'm with you - there is a place for every one but please can we stop the cattiness - its really not attractive and will not encourage new people to post and that would be great for them to do that!

So hi to all the lurkers - get yourself a name and join in!

If you cannot think of a catchy name - use a pets name and street - that makes me minty stalls farm road! (okay possibly should not change my name!)

Well, what's everyone up to today? I've just had a new mobile phone delivered to home (despite the fact that I gave my work address for delivery - fortunately, dad is there to sign for it. He's cleaning my guttering and painting my porch, bless him). So I'm excited to get home and play with my new toy!

Just been reading the ±«Óãtv news website, and there's a story about online maps not including historical buildings and woodlands and other places of interest. Never thought of it to be honest, but it's true! And I do love a bit of architecture... I do have a 20 year old A-Z in the car, which probably has places that don't even exist any more!
