WHEN THINGS GO WRONG - RIGHT.

Chris Evans | 16:40 UK time, Friday, 2 May 2008

So we've been building a new house now for eighteen months and we are due to move st the end of May. However we found out this morning that...

...we won't really be able to. I mean we could but it would still be half a building sight. Problemo though, we have sold the house we are in and we have to be out in four weeks.

So guess what ?

We are moving into the pub for a few weeks ! The pub we own !!!! What a riot. I've dreamt of many things but living in the pub...

Just when I thought life couldn't get any better.

Ha ha ha ha ha hahahahah ha ha hahahhahhhhhahahahahahah HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

CLP: Living in a pub? What a wheeze. Do they do food? You've got it made if they do. Bet they've got a big telly for the football as well. Man heaven, eh?

Building work is just horrendous CLP - sorry to hear that it's gone so wrong but hey - you get to live in the pub!

As for ARF suggestions I posted this in yesterdays blog but in case they need to be here you ought to give "Illusions in G Major" by ELO (from the Eldorado album) a go. It'd be a great way to kick off the bank holiday ARF.

Keep your pecker up and snogs to Foxie.

  • Comment number 3.

Happy ARF!! Hope the sun shines on your bank holiday weekend.

Lots of love to Enzo, hope you're feeling better.

I think that living in a pub whilst waiting for your new home to be finished will be blissful,,,,,,,,,,, unless you want an early night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be worth the wait tho christoff, just hope Enzo can cope with it?

Hold on to your hat Chris - life WILL get better and better.............living in a pub is great, but becoming a dad will be an even bigger and more amazing life changing experience for you.........and it's coming!!!

That new house of yours will need to be exactly as you want it, you will be there for a long time and blissfully happy!!

Hold on to your hat..............or in your case flat cap :-)))

Greetings and Salutations from Vancouver, Canada.

Once again, Mr.Evans is enjoying the fruits of his labour whilst his labourers perpare his palatial new pad.

I once ran into him in a pub in Notting Hill years ago and it must be said, such surroundings certainly suit him, in the best possible sense.

To one and all, I wish a most delicious and positively fantastical weekend.

For me, it starts with a post-work gym visit, then a mouth-watering curry with a few Cobras and night in with my dear lady; tomorrow is all about relaxing, putting new seats in our car, having a barbecue and just enjoying. Sunday promises a lie in, a stroll in the park, a little DIY and a lot of love. I just can't complain.

Just a hop, skip and a jump until my visit home to Blighty. Hurrah and huzzah.

Take care, everyone and remember...everything is within walking distance if you have the time

    Dr. T

We had to wait to move into our house too and spent some time with friends and had a great time, so I think you will have fun in the pub!

    Chris - a small complaint.

Your fabulous daily theme tunes (Waltons, Dallas, Magnum etc) are brilliant but for the last couple of weeks or so you have started giving the shows contact details out over the top of them!

Stop it Chris, go back to how it was before - they aren't very long anyway so play the daily themes please!

  • Comment number 16.

I wonder if this will be the first time you have "lived over the shop" ?! (Best keep Enzo out of the beer garden!)
    Good luck with the move

    Evening one and evening all,

Phew. It's sorted now but I've had a problem with a faulty router (ahem). Have had no internet for few days ('thank goodness for that!', I hear you all cry).

So, living above the pub. Popping downstairs to let the dog out could take a little longer than usual : )

The blossom's out in our garden. Strictly speaking, it's my neighbour's garden but, thankfully, most of the branches bearing their beautiful blossom reach into and adorn my garden.

Bingo/MfR - masters of the awesome one-liner : ) oh, and by the way Matt, I assume that last weekend MfR was an acronym for marvellous Fulham result?

Gingembre - re 3 points, thank you. Yep, the 3 would ensure staying up. I will be there tomorrow.

HI Chris...I'm Sundar Rao from Hyderabad in southern India. All of us here at home LOVE you, The Fox and everything you'll do in your show. We listen to your show only in the early morning hours of India. That's because your 1700 hours time (GMT) in the UK is 2230 hours here in Indian Standard Time (IST), and that's late.

Now...your track listing of songs played on Friday 2nd May, 2008 IS NOT UPDATED as of this moment on Saturday morning, 7.40 am IST ! Pls do that soonest during or after your everyday shows as we love to track and buy some of the great music you play.

I've only just registered in the ±«Óãtv site, and know where else to put down these comments and so chose this here. Sorry to all the other writers in this box.
Chris, do tell me where I ought to be writing in on your blog, and will do that the next time.

    LOVE your great show.
And btw, it's no surprise that you and your team were chosen as the BEST show in that ±«Óãtv poll that was read out, and regaled by you later, on 1st May. Congrats to you Chris and The Fox (love her sexy sexy full-of-real-mirth-laugh) !

Why can't we see you on some sort of live-on-internet-streaming-live tv thing? THAT would be the best part of our day.

    Regards,
    Sundar Rao

    Morning all

Day 1 of "no Mr Diva" weekend, and I just have to say that being able to sleep like a starfish, totally spangled diagonally across the new mattress was fab! The best night's sleep for ages. Weird that!

Now embarking on the housework, aiming to get done for the West Ham kick-off at 12.30ish.

Did anyone see Have I Got News For You last night? Is it me, or is Brian Blessed really, really scary!?!?!?

Right, onwards and upwards ..... Jonathan Ross on R2 is a calling .....

Gonna be extremely decadent now and go for a long hot soak with my new Marian Keyes book. 3pm on a Saturday. Bath. Whatever next ..... ? ? ?

Matt, we're going to Las Vegas? Great news, I've never been.
I was glued to the tv for the final day of the Championship today - and that was excitement enough....as a neutral. Although, my other team is Palace, so I must declare an interest.

Gingembre, thank you. Keano never seems to get the message when it comes to playing us!!! To be honest, maybe he did get the message because they were awesome and we were lucky to get nil!!

    Morning everyone,

Hope you are all having a wonderful bank holiday weekend. Little one has to finish his project today so I expect to endure lots of screaming and crying but at least he won't get another one for a year!

My dad was 65 yesterday. He's not my real dad but he took me on as a baby when he met my mum, and he has been the most wonderful father I could have hoped for, unlike my real dad who has met me for a pizza once, several years ago.

Hope you're all ok, especially those of you in norfolk. How lovely is the weather? I've just been counting the gnat bites on my legs, seventeen so far! I must be very tasty!

    Take care all of you,

    Hi guys

Had a very eventfull day. My mother in law had a fall and we spent hours at the hospital with her. Turns out that she has fractured her ankle and her pelvis and she is staying with us now. She is in alot of pain and getting her to the loo is pretty hard work bless her.

I'm taking her to the fracture clinic tomorrow so I'm hoping that I can get a wheelchair for her for the next few weeks.

CtD I am sooo jealous of your afternoon, good for you. I too feel like a space cadet but for a totally different reason!

Waiting until the next painkillers are due, making a bed up and then collapsing!

MrsW and me have been invited to an 80's night (fancy dress) - any suggestions of what we could go as? (as a couple). If all else fails I'm gonna have to dig out the Frankie says No and Choose Life tshirts!! - younger viewers ask someone older!!

    Morning all,

What a stonker of a day, and its my day off! I reckon this calls for the dreaded shorts as today I will be mainly in the garden tidying up after a rather successsful bbq yesterday, and then cutting the grass on my ride on mower.

I have had a run of good luck recently with shopping. First of all I bought 2 bikes. Mine was reduced from £280 TO £200, but then got another £20 knocked off as they only had the display model left, I bought some sun glasses at the same time which were £10 less than advertised but the clincher was the fella's bike which was just under £200 which we paid for in full, only to get the box home to discover they had given us the next model up, so that was a saving of another £100. Then there was yesterday. I wanted a new bbq, preferably a gas one and was weighing up the pros and cons of 2 that had caught my eye - one at £249 and one at £300. I liked all the little extras but they were both a little big. Then I spotted one in the corner. Slightly smaller and the tag was £79. Bargain! So we hunted them down in the store only to find they had been futher reduced to a mere £49. We also purchased 2 different sorts of solar lighting, one at £10 and the other £20. The casher rang the £10 one through twice rather than individually, saving us yet another £10. So I have effectively saved £470. Personally I think thats pretty good going! Just wondering now what to spend this extra money on. Any ideas???

    MW, a!

  • Comment number 58.

So the blog doesn't like pound signs.

    MW, a!

    Morning all.

Debbie - shall we call you Nurse Debbie from now on? Good luck!

Gingembre - I think you and the lady should go as Hayzee Fantayzee, complete with dreadlock wigs and denim dungarees!

    MW,a - fab!!

Had a nightmare of a journey this morning to work. 20 minutes on a normal day took me an hour today thanks to a police diversion off of my route because of an accident. Sad thing is they forgot to divert us all back onto the route and about a dozen of us ended up almost 15 miles the wrong side of town. Ugh!!! Now a bit stressed and shaky thanks to an A12 diversion I could have done without.

Can someone pass me some aspirin ...?

Just catching up with the blog over the weekend.

Debbie: your poor mum in law. What a shame - she must be in so much pain. But you are doing a wonderful job looking after her - you will be rewarded!

I have to say that I watched Have I Got News For You on Friday and I thought Brian Blessed was utterly sensational! The last time I enjoyed HIGNFY so much was when Brucie was host! Maybe it's just me!!

Gorgeous day in Glasgow, just like yesterday. Thought I would wear my linen trousers that I bought last summer. Well, they don't fit, yikes! So ..... guess who will be shopping for salad at lunchtime?
