TWENTY THOUSAND POSTS AND WE'RE STILL GOING GANG.

Chris Evans | 15:01 UK time, Tuesday, 6 November 2007

Where's Austin Powers when you need him ?

I think this week I'm gonna have to get a bit of Mike Myers under my belt. There are certain films I need to watch so many times a year otherwise my subliminal mantra of what I wanted from life begins to disappear.

Really clever talented people make movies to inspire us and get us to dream our dreams and think about things and when I look back at my life (so far) it's obvious movies have had a huge effect on me.

FILMS I HAVE TO WATCH REGULARLY.

The Graduate - once a year (minimum)
Arthur- twice a year
The Godfather (1 or 2, never 3) - once a year
Pretty Woman (bi annually, it's so much better than people remember)
Nikita - once every two years
Leon - every couple of years.
Betty Blue - same
It's a Wonderful Life - every Christmas.
Muppet Christmas Carol - every Christmas
Trading Places - once a year.
Midnight Run - anytime.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

There are many more but I don't have the kind of brain that retains their titles.

George Clooney, last year, bought all his friends what he thought were the best hundred films of all time. I'd love to get a hold of that list.

There are so many great films that have been made there's no need for anyone to watch crap telly ever again ! I think this is the next thing on my list. I'm so busy living life to the full I really don't have time for much else. In the mean time where's my Austin Powers d.v.d.

Off now for a meeting with my accountant, can't wait.

    Herlo Everyone,

Films, I'm not a big screen watcher.

But when I find one I like, I love it.

I watched Pretty Woman last week. Lovely. I love LEON. Jean Reno is the Dogs B*&^%)ks. I adore Mike Myers. He just has to stand on screen and I snigger - There is something Eric Morcambe about him!

My FAVOURITE Film right now, is The Wedding Singer. I have lost count of the number of times I've watched it now, and sadly I even have Grow Old with you as the Ring Tone on my phone for when my honey phones me. I'm proud to say that I love my honey as much as The Wedding Singer loves his girl.

Oaft... I'm gone all soft and spongy now.

Chris is so right, there are so many films to watch we never ever have to watch cr@p tele again. One day we will be able to have films on demand, just like you can with music on the internet. How about films with great cars in, like the original version of The Thomas Crown Affair, it showed Faye Dunaway with a Ferrari 275GTB4 Spyder - only ten where ever made and today worth a cool £2 million. If you asked my me what is my favourite film I wouldn`t be able to answer, mainly because I can`t remember! Ususally it`s the last seen. Watched ITV`s `A Room With A View`, good, but I prefered the `85 version with Helena Bonham-Carter.

But, hey musn`t forget Autumn Watch with the lovely Kate Humble and slightly eccentric Bill Oddie - what had he done to his hair, it was orange on the right side, while the left side was darker with a bit of grey!

The only recent experiences are kids films although I do like the way the humour on things such as the Magic Roundabout is pitched at different generations.

I am not really the type who watches things over and over...life's too short and personal time too infrequent to be doing the same thing again and again.

Hi Gingembre, thanks for asking, not been too great and spent much of the weekend sleeping when possible. Now can't sleep of a night time properly and I'm awake at 4am each morning! x

Been feeling quite down but can't really go into that here. Which is probably a good thing because I would get on everyone's nerves!

Off the top of my head and in no particular order:-

    Pulp Fiction
    Rain Man
    Wizard of Oz
    Some Like It Hot
    The Green Mile
    Sleepless in Seattle
    Dirty Dancing
    Memphis Belle
    Cleopatra
    Breakfast Club
    Jason and the Argonauts
And anything from Disney before the corporation started making films with real actors and not cartoon ones.

Watched Polar Express with little man over the weekend. Now that's a sweet little film that I will probably watch a few more time before Christmas.

Hazel, poor you hope you get your back sorted quickly x

Susan, Hi, I used to be 'a lurker' many moons ago and remember you for the huggles. Good to see you back x

    Love
    Debbie xx

PS. Oh and Tinsel I just wanted to say, you crack me up sometimes. If George does indeed give you one in person, please point him in my direction I'd be ever so grateful x

Am so stressed, I feel i've got so much going on that i'm behind with the blog & me blog astro stuff.... I promise i'll start it soon.. the astro.

I'll just try ter catch up abit now.

First - Me last comments yesterdee sorry there was alot of typing errors.
I wrote 'me' I meant 'em' build em up!
Plus the bit about me photo I mean't ter say 'don't show Lewis me mad photo' I missed out 'don't'.
    Ok that sorted.

CLP - Top Gear (comments Mon blog) Yeah I watched that, what a weird edition.
I was waiting for the exciting Ultima which I believe 'as just set a new Top Gear Stig lap record - should be on one of the shows very soon!
I remember being overtaken by an Ultima on the A41 near Whitchurch in the Spring - red one with V8 something on the no. plate - wonder if it's the same one featured in Top Gear - i've seen it's a red one. plus very rare these Ultimas!!!!!
Only 4 for sale in whole of the UK at present!

Debbie - Thanks for your advice yesterdee - I've 'ad a lie down & now feel...... loose n' ready!
    TARRRR!!!!!

Prof Plum - Thanks for your astro - capricorn comments!!!!

General F1 Chat - I see me prediction of Alonso gong ter Renault 'as come true.
I now think Heki Kovalaiven will go ter McClaren & become Lewis's team mate next year.
But I so much 'ope Fisichella (i'm born on same day as 'im) will go to McClaren or it's Fisi's F1 career over in my opinion.
Unless Renualt come good again. But then it would be back to square one of last year with Alonso dominating the Renault team as Fisi's team mate - which is what makes Alonso happy!

Just wish Fisi would be more aggressive & chase the better drives - I can see a big similarity with myself the way I get too settled in a job when I know theres better out there.
Fisi stayed at Jordon too long & he's doing the same at Renault!

I just hope Ron Dennis does get Fisi as Lewis's team mate as I know they would work very well together not against each other like Alonso did.

FILMS - Anything Comedy... I don't like overly violent films.
Good As It Gets - Great demented look at life!
    Anything with Jim Carey.... crayzeeeee.
    Eddie Murphy films. Brilliant actor!
    Trading Places - great film!
    All of the Bond films!
    Arthur.
Loved all those Ploice Academy films.
Naked Gun. (Sad I know but it's lighthearted... loosen up!)
    Master Model Railways volume 28.
    Sierra Cosworths In Action.
Errrrr plus probally one of my favs loved the Pretty Woman film. I like the strory there were the rich, but kind, businessman rescues a beautiful woman from prostitution.
Plus seen the silver Lotus Esprit 2.2 turbo in it!!!!!!! WROCKIN'!!!!!!!!

So many good films - I think yer can get into anything once yer start watching it!!

    'ope this 'epls!!!!!

Bit like my Lotus V8 I 'ad!

Love Actually - no!! I thought it was so sugary and sickly I needed a sick bucket to get through it, although I loved Emma Thompson in it as i love her in everything. I thought the most nauseating bit was when Keira bloody Knightley said something like "I'm quite pretty aren't I?", yes of course you're quite pretty you silly girl I don't think you've suddenly noticed it!

OK rant over. Nearly all the films I love are quite sad in places, require a box of tissues and a big box of chocs and involve unrequited love in some way ie. The Remains of the Day (starring the wonderful Emma Thompson of course), The Bridges of Madison County and The Way We Were (what a theme tune). I'm sure I will think of millions more once I post this but at the moment I can also say I love It's a Wonderful Life and Polar Express is a pretty lovely newish kids' film. Films like Dirty Dancing and Grease seem great at the time but I think when you watch them again they aren't as wonderful as we remember, although I could watch Patrick Swayze lift Baby out of the water a million times and always get a lump in my throat. Oh, just remembered John Travolta is a fave of mine, great in Pulp Fiction and I thought he was wonderful singing You're Timeless to me with Christopher Walken in Hairspray, "You're like a stinky old cheese dear, just getting better with age", love it!!

Better go and dish up some lunch to the little angels,

    Em xx

Bingo, Mr Debbie built and sold an Ultima a few years back. I don't know much about cars but I'm sure it must be the same car that you are talking about. It was a kit car I think. Whatever that means. It was black and looked a bit like a batmobile. I suppose it costs stupid money then if they are so rare. Hmmm mood definitely not improving here!

Jim Carey, I can't watch anything with him in it. Saw The Mask when it first came out and that was enough!

I'm trying to think what to knit the fella for Christmas. I'm trying to find some really nice wool for a hat and scarf. We shall see.

Chris you are soooo right about Muppets Christmas Carol!

Its now become a traditional Christmas Eve showing in our house. You know the moment, its when youve done all the shopping, the cupboard is full of fayre, you have the Turkey in the oven and the snowball at your side! You huddle together on the sofa and indulge this festive DVD.

PS Why o why did they remove Michael Caines singing duet of "The love I lost" in the DVD version? Luckily I still have the VHS version somewhere.
