HOW'S ABOUT THIS THEN.

Chris Evans | 15:13 UK time, Monday, 22 October 2007

I know it's sad, i know it's pathetic but here's what the latest new thing is in our house...

... we get the t.v. guide on a Sunday morning and one of us reads out as the other punches in all the record times for our favorite films and doco's for the whole week !

I love it, my wife loves it. It only takes about twenty minutes but means there's no need to rush home or worry about missing anything for a whole seven days. It also means we don't have to sit through any crap waiting for something good to be on.

As the years tick by, I'm getting more and more organised and wondering why the heck i didn't live my life like this before but then again I wouldn't be where I am now if I had done would I ?

Been on a motorbike all morning and just arrived in a decidedly spookily quiet London, how different it may all have been had there been cause for an open top bus parade for some reason or another.

All's well on drivetime as this week is WINE WEEK. Hurrah !!!!

Ah well never mind chaps. Nobody died did they.

And watchin' all them spectacularly-built young chaps in unfeasibly tight shirts weltin' seven bells out of each other made an old woman very happy and brought back fond memories.

Such as the time our lads from little Orrell won the Rugby Sevens, beating a team of huge big International buggers called the Barbarians, a major feat at the time since it was the top national tournament and guaranteed a place at Twickenham; in fact I seem to remember Brian Ashton being on the team that day...anyway, as the final whistle went, declaring our lads the winners, I charged on to the field and launched myself at the then husband, one of the back-row players, and knocked him clean off his feet. As we rolled around, whooping ecstatically, our prop ran over and laughed, "Bloody hell, love, their no.6 has been tryin' to do that all afternoon." Hahahaha bless.

Now then. Tinsel sugar. Too old? Don't be daft.

46 is a bit old to be ringin' doorbells and runnin' off, it's a bit ripe to be suckin' a dummy and you'd be hard pushed to get into Alton Towers for nowt;- but as to owt else, hurrah! Go to it, babe.

My daughter has spent her life chastising me for bad behaviour, bless her; indeed, on our recent trip to the glorious Far East I was given a final verbal warning and a slap for throwin' a tantrum in our 15th Starbucks of the trip.

Always remember. You're never too old to be childish.

    j. Yes that's me. Ms. Rubbish. Hurrah.

You and your wife sound really sweet, you can tell you're newlyweds! So what are you recording this week? You're lucky that you like watching the same things! We can't agree, we have to get two DVDs from the library, one girlie soppy one for me ie The Painted Veil this week and something a bit more scary and bloody for him.

Tinsel - hope you are OK, he was obviously a bit of an idiot anyway to end it like that xx

Had a lovely chilled out day today at home with kids, starting to feel half human again! Shame half-term is only a week long.

Did anyone see Drop Dead Gorgeous last night? I love that programme and I was howling at the end, I hope there'll be another series.

    Take care everyone,

    Em xx

Am SOOOOOOO jealous of you Christophe. We only have a BT line - the Residents Association (the Pensioners Arm of the SS possibly) will NOT ALLOW EITHER DISHES OR CABLE into our block of flats. So we just bought a freeview box. Which doesn't record. But having said that, I can't really espeshully remember what we used to watch particularly...

Mind you, we switch it off more. And I'm going to be FAR TOO busy with course work to be watching telly anyway. And Doctor Who is on ±«Óãtv3.

Just one question...do you punch in before or after breakfast?

Hazel - you're right about the residents' assoc - even though I own my flat and it's on the ground floor opening onto the communcal gardens, the Fuhrer won't let me put out a clothes airer outside my back door.

Are residents association committees where doctors receptionists and other such jobsworths go when they retire??

    Hello one and all

Don't get too organised CLP. Nothing wrong in eccentricity. I don't write anything down as I have a photographic memory, saves a fortune on diaries. Too organised means wearing slippers and being sensible.

Bingo, Hull, could be the new Las Vegas, Steve Wright could do a new show from a trawler. Radio Valentine. I can tell by your lingo Bingo that you come from that part of the world.

CLP I am so jealous that you and your lovely wife can actually agree on what to watch on TV.

Em, I'm with you regarding this. He has to have an action film, Doctor Who or something involving wheels. Me, I'm happy with a decent documentary or.......

Loving 'The Tudors' at the moment, is anyone else watching that? I am fascintated with this period in history anyway but oh my god, the men are gawjus!!!!

Hazel, I know what you mean about the scan. I've had all the prodding and ultra sounds etc before. Hope all's ok for you xx

Tinsel, I am so sorry to hear that you have split up with your man. You may feel that you are better off without him after the way he dealt with the situation. I believe that it is never too late. People find love and companionship when they least expect it so please don't feel that it's too late. Be really kind to yourself at the moment. Do something just for you, go for a walk in the woods, get that book that you have been meaning to read or just have a good, long, bubbly bath. Sending you big hugs xxxx

I'm totally shattered. I've been at home with the boys today and blimey I'm tired. One of the girls that I used to work with came round this evening with her little boy. The house was like a war zone by the time they left but they had a great time.

    Bye for now,

Best device ever invented. Not only can you make sure you don't miss anything you want, whatever time of day it's on and whatever else you are doing, but the ability to start watching programmes on 'commercial' TV 10 minutes late on catch-up and avoid all the adverts (and almost in the words of Robbie Williams, "the yellow button's broke on my PVR") has to be the best thing out.

All the episodes of House ever shown all filed away neatly for me to dip into whenever I feel like a Cameron infusion!!!

However, my utterly gorgeous little actress friend was in the first episode gettin' her kit off with said JRM, ooo missus I couldn't look. Hurrah top bird. Look out for her, Slaine Kelly. She's a little twinkle destined for stardom.

Do something totally different that you haven't done together - yes get out of the house take lots of walks and believe me time does heal. I am still thinking about dating but haven't as yet.

You're never over the hill at 40 either.... behave disgracefully that's what 40 means. swing around lampposts, go paddling in the sea in fact enjoy yourself.
