... arguing. I used to do it a lot and now I don't do it anymore, my life's so much better for it. I've thought about it and figured out that it's a completely fruitless exercise.
The reason people argue is beacause they don't want to agree with each other, not because they do want to agree with each other. If arguments ended in agreement, people would stop having them.
Disagreements on the other hand are cool. I disagree with lots of people about lots of things but I still like them and find our relationships richer for it.
That's the end of that.

As I've said before on here, me and Mr Diva don't argue (although we were close to our first one last week!) We do disagree from time to time, but we agree to disagree, sulk a bit (me) have the odd hissy fit (me) or play on the games console (him!) then after a short while, all is well and harmonious in Diva Towers.
Life's grand at the mo. I lost another pound at chubby club last night - that's 3.5lbs in 2 weeks - hurrah! Also got my large (but shrinking) butt out of bed this morning and went to the gym at 6.30 am. This was a real biggie for me as I only had my induction on Sunday and I was really nervous! But I've broken that duck now so hopefully there'll be no stopping me - tomorrow maybe a 6.30 am swim?
Herby lemon poussins (my own creation!) and sweet potato wedges with salad for dinner tonight.
The only cloud on my horizon is the White Stripes cancelling their UK tour - I was sooooooooooooo excited about seeing them, but hey ho - we can only wish Meg White well and keep our fingers crossed that they re-schedule in 2008. Who knows - I may even get better deats next time round!

Great to see England win last night again, loved the new look team. A few injuries to some 'favourites' and we need to actually play in-form people in theire correct positions. I remember Mexico '86 and Italia '90 where this happened and it always seems to work out.
Gaby - I would still have started with young Nicky though, didn't think he'd done anything wrong to be dropped. One for the future that's for sure.
Been indoors all day today, both the nippers have a virus, nothing serious just both under the weather and 'not themselves'. Been quite nice to just have a loaf around, don't get to do it often. All the windows and doors are open letting the fresh air flow through the house. MrsW at work, so will tune in at 5.05 and start the dinner then.

Unfortunately I was listening whilst driving around the M25 in my wife's car and couldn't switch of the b...y traffic reports from other radio stations - so only heard part of the broadcast.
I disagree and would argue with you about it. Arguments show passion, care, hunger, ownership etc. all the things that create change and stuff.
Never been able not to have them and always been crap at them.

I agree with you 100%! When someone 'argues' with me...or tries to, I feel like they are trying to change my way of thinking. The not-so-subtle message there is that they do not respect my way of thinking and therefore must rescue me from it. I say that the world is large enough for more than one viewpoint on any matter.

Happy thirsty Thursday! And what a lovely thursday its been! Just spoke to the fella properly for the 1st time. I was watching a film called 'Frankie and Johnny' and had the sudden need to phone him last night after it finished but it went to Voicemail, then he rang about 2 hrs ago. Had a really great chat. Can't wait for coffee next week. Ok wont talk about him till next week.
Cherly you DIVA!- how are you love? invested in any shoes recently? I just put some on ebay as my feet seem to have shrunk and also have started to run out of space!!! Have bought some funky brown suade boots from that wonderful shop Primark!
So the holiday tickets came this morning and then after a look at the calender realised it was only 26 days to go!!! So the mega diet has started. Must look good poolside and not only that have been eating too much rubbish recently! With all the benefit probs have been going from not being able to eat to stuffing my face.
I'm also trying to knit a beret at the mo but it doesnt seem to be working! I never thought I would become so addicted to knitting. I really hate it when I haven't got anything to knit! Q..Why do some celebs lie about their age... Madonna has been been 48 for several years and now Tim Grundy of radio Piccadilly claims to be 48. Let me tell you he was much older than me at school and I'm 50ish.

Really enjoying childminding but soooo tired, still dinnerladying too, think I will give that up at Christmas.
Older son had a good day yesterday - hooray! He says he's turned a corner but I think we've still got a long way to go, we'll see.
At 9.30 I'm going straight on the phone to try and get tickets for lots of things at the reopening Theatre Royal in Norwich, I absolutely love going to the theatre more than anything and I've really missed it.

Completely agree with CLP about arguing - although... I never used to argue with my Ex, as I always thought that an easy life was better. Now though, I wish I had stood up to him more, rather than let him ride roughshod all over me. Thankfully, the "doormat" tattoo has disappeared since he and I seperated and I now stand my ground much more.
Argue for arguments sake though? Nah, not for me.
Off now to watch a Peter Kay DVD, but will drop by later.

Today is a better day. So far anyway!
I much prefer talking to arguing. Arguing is very negative and neither person normally comes away from it feeling very good do they. You can't agree with someone all of the time no matter how close you are. It's how you deal with the disagreement that is important.
Explained to Mr Debbie how important this blog is to me and that there are such lovely people on here that make me smile. I think he understands. He agreed that this is my place to come and he doesn't see the need to come back. He has his car forums that he chats on and I have here. We each need our space. Peace is restored.
Collected the debt pack from CAB, very interesting reading and very reassuring to know that there is help out there. We have started talking about our next step so we'll see how we go. I just really, really don't want to rent. Am I being unreasonable?

If selling up and renting means that you clear all your debts, Mr Debbie is 'with you' on the way forward and it means that you can start afresh again together without the current black cloud hanging over you then it could well be the way forward?
About 8/9 years ago I had to sell up (at a loss) and rent due to over-spending on credit cards/store cards/loans/overdrafts etc etc but I now live in a nice house with the lovely MrsW, 2 jam-eaters and a managable (just) mortgage. The light nearly went out once in my long tunnel but the flicker got bigger until I was back on track.
Be safe in the knowledge that you are far from alone. I'm chuffed to bits that you and Mr Debbie are ok and that you could both now be singing from the same hymn sheet.

Debbie, so glad you've posted today. Your husband seems like a great guy - so glad you and he are starting TOGETHER the journey you're both going to have to make.
You may have to make sacrifices, but try to think about the big picture. I know you don't want to rent, but if you do so for a few years, you will be in a great position when you both decide to get back on the housing ladder. Just make sure, whatever you do, that you have a plan and that you stick to it.
Peter Kay makes me laugh so much - I feel great now! Laughter really is the best medicine and even though I am still very, very tired, at least I'm smiling!

missy - I'm wearing my pink cowboy boots today and they're really comfy! Not scoured that famous online auction site for a while now but I did have a massive wardrobe clear out last weekend to make way for my impending collection of coloured boots! Glad things are looking rosy with "the fella" too - fingers crossed for you that it ends in big happy hugs all round - let us all know when we need to invest in hats and book our hotels!!

So, what's everyone up to this weekend? I'm v.excited as I'm getting "new" hair. Well, OK, not new exactly, but the existing mousey brown and blond Diva will be transformed into a darkest brown and bright red Diva tomorrow morning. Booked in for 3 hours or so at the hairdressers and I can't wait. I've got a male (straight) hairdresser and he cracks me up! His lady also works in the same salon and they're both quite young and really sweet on each other. Ah!
Then on Sunday I'm braving the big bad capital to go and see Ricky Gervais. Mr Diva has never been in the Albert Hall before and I'm just as excited at him getting to see inside that amazing place as I am at seeing RG.
Oh - and it's a trip to the nail bar tonight for infills and a re-paint!

As much as I try, I seem unable to avoid arguments with certain people - most notably my dear wife, Dolores. To be fair, I almost never start an argument, but somehow I always seem to lose (see my latest blog post for a prime example). If it were up to me then I would take on Chris's philosophy, and engage the whole world in gentle discourse at all times to find a mutually acceptable solution. When I suggested this to Dolores she looked bemused for a moment, before telling me that 'discourse is for people who prefer inane waffle over exercising foresight with respect to the usually obvious outcome'. I tried, vainly, to discuss this valid point, but she was too busy handwashing our baby's soiled nappy (we are living on meagre means at the moment). Instead she simply told me I was wasting my time and hers, when there was nothing to discuss. I left at this point to attempt a self-reflective analysis, but ended up playing helping Ravel (my loyal assistant) finish his coffee table made from an old pine door. We didn't speak.

My son won't argue with me, he gives in EVERYTIME, unless he figures I'm not convinced about my arguement, and when he figures I'm not convinced I normally amn't,and therefore I won't be arguing anyways.
My husband is a non-arguementative person too. Is impossible. I love shouting and screaming. Sometimes I just do it for the pure hell of it.

Want a laugh (well I could have cried). Okay picked up brand new car on Friday night. Came back to home on Sunday, backed the car into the drive and came to a halt. This bundle of chocolate brown fluffy promptly jumped up on bonnet to say hello mum your home and I'm there saying no no no please not on the new car and he promptly started to slide off backwards like a boat being launched finally just as he was going over the edge he put out a claw to stay on - ouch a hairline scratch on the bonnet.... Needless to say he hasn't tried it again since.
okay okay you can all stop laughing now - I should have videoed it - it brings fresh tears of laughter thinking about it again.
Off to a golden wedding anniversary party in the heart of the Mendips tomorrow.

Wow - interesting re 'cup half full' fellow-bloggers, Tinsel, Chrissie S and Gingembre.....I had a sleepless night last night worrying about stuff - wasn't hugely worried before I went to sleep but woke up in the night worrying (one of those).......was thinking negatively and then decided to 'do a CLP'.....I just tried to put a positive spin on all of it....felt bit better seconds later. Like you say - must be something in the air.
Re arguing - have been thinking about what you said Chris - about people not wanting to agree with each other - very astute comment. Am trying to put the 'teenage' spin on that too!! Not that I am one, I hasten to add.....but, I have two : )
Talking of kids, I heard an interesting thing yesterday while I was doing taxi duty for one of the afore-mentioned........one of them and a friend of the same age were chatting in the back of the car.......they were discussing teachers.......'oh, yes' said one of them, 'that teacher is excellent, ' you are right', said the friend, 'nobody listens during her lessons and yet we all understand the subject, so she MUST be a brilliant teacher' !!!!! Classic.
Must get on with ANOTHER job application form......so boring.

The crispbread decision, after a long and hard deliberation was a lite cheese triangle, the brand of which shall remain nameless but think of happy cattle! One triangle between 3 crispbreads and then a ladylike layer of "that spread" you either love or hate, mymate!
Pasta tonight - yippppeeeeee - my all-time fave. I'm sure I was an Italian in a former life!
