From Russia with love..
what a bizarre few days it's been. I did my first gig in Ibiza on Thursday, on the terrace at Amnesia.. it was a lot of fun. and great to see that I can get away with much more challenging music than I could last year..the times they are a changing! I finished DJing at 4.30am and went back to a friends villa where I had a swim, watched the sun come up and a bloody mary and then went to the airport. It was like a mini 8 hour holiday.
After being woken up on the tiled floor of Ibiza airport by a random girl (oh the indignity) I got on my plane and got on the gatwick express train. We were kicked off the train after 10 mins and told that due to the flash flooding earlier on that morning, Victoria station was closed alongside 14 other tube stations and the train was going no further. I was beginning to get delirious with lack of sleep at this point so got in a cab. 2 hours later I arrive at my flat ..to find that it had also been a victim of the floods. I squelched my way over the carpet to my bed and fell asleep face down on my bed for 4 fitful hours. Then I went and did the Mash Up,.. which is always the best cure for any kind of trauma.
On Saturday morning I went to St Petersburg to play at the fortdance festival. Fortdance is on a fort on a tiny island that is 10 mins in a boat... in this case a wooden boat, blaring out trance music with a beautiful pink sunset behind us..it was all quite magical and inspiring. I met some great girls who do national russian radio and they love the show. I couldn't believe how much people knew the show.. I had Mash Up jingles sung to me! Made me realise just how far it is possible to reach with Radio on the internet and it made me so grateful to have this show that I can play the music I love on.... better go before I get too emotional. Just got back from my stag do in Ibiza (landed Thursday PM), caught your set at amnesia, absolutely wicked, set the tone for the whole weekend!

Complain about this postWhat do you think will be the role of experimental music in the near future? Not just electronic and mixing using electronics. Of course the DJ's will ultimatelly be the ones who can create the listeners (and as so, fighting piracy for example). Blues, Rock, aalternative, metal, jazz, fusion, world music...
The Rolling Stones have seen it a bit late I believe because you cannot create a good rock album if you don't renew your influences and be able to share experiences.
(will the listeners be the ones who buy the music-digital or cd- as an influence of dj's)
There is also a problem in my opinion: There's not enough programs that really talk about music.
I would really like to read what you think about these issues.

You Can Call Me Al was a touch of class! no1 else i saw at the whole festival played anything like as eclectic a set as u did! Anyway I'll get down to brass tacks, you played 1 particular tune that I couldn't get out of my head 4 the whole festival, I've heard it b4 but don't have a clue what the name is, could u please send me a tracklisting or let me know where I can find global gathering set lists as I've looked everywhere! x
Annie, I'm addicted, I just can't stop. Not in a sad despo way, in a I've listened to your Global show 5 times already and in 30mins I'll be listening AGAIN kind of way! It was awesome. I never get to listen on Friday night so it's always a fantastic start to the working week on a Monday morning. I got a bit carried away this week though and got told to shut up drumming on my laptop. Apparently it doesn't go down too well in an open plan office.
Keep up the good work and don't forget us listen again people. When are we going to get your show podcasted??

Saw your set at cream - it was wkd - good to find someone playing fresh tunes out there - saw hype and propercy the night before then you playing some wkd tunes - like all the speed garage bassline things you were playing - esp that one that goes 'people dont dance no more' over armand van helden you dont know - sick tune!
I wanna come get involved in your show - you have my taste - you play dnb, garage, house and all the best of each! I love hospital and all dnb, and I dj house so I listen to alot of that.
