Gabriel is half-Polish and half-English and in this clip he explores what this means to him and his family. Gabriel enjoys being on the move, whether it’s football, basketball or dancing and also loves music. He lives in Kent where he goes to a local primary school and also has Polish lessons, along with his two sisters. The children often spend time with their Polish grandparents and all of them enjoy dressing in traditional costume and performing Polish dances which strengthens their Polish roots.

Students could explore all of the things that make Gabriel the person that he is. They could recall the facts that they learned about him throughout this clip, and use these to create a mind map on the board or individually.

It could be explained to students that all of these things form Gabriel’s identity. Students could then be asked to think of all the things that form their identity. They could create another mind map or a scrap book to represent their own identity.
