Description
How to measure the length of a piece of wood, a python and a football pitch. The approximation of length is discussed before a demonstration of how to record the measurement using different units: centimetres, metres and kilometres. Different tools are used for the measurements: a ruler, a tape measure and a trundle wheel.

Students could choose appropriate tools and units to measure various objects and spaces. For example, they could find the length of objects in the classroom or the perimeter of the playground.
