Work to make Scottish cities more sustainable has already been going on for some years, but it's important that everyone living in a community of any size feels empowered to have a voice shaping a more sustainable future in their local area.

Scotland has committed to making its cities as sustainable as possible:

  • In 2019, 65.6% of adults lived within a 5 minute walk of their nearest green space
  • In 2018, 92% of residential and non-residential addresses had access to superfast broadband
  • 2.42 million tonnes of household waste was generated in Scotland in 2019 - down 7% from 2011
