Roles and responsibilities
- Damon acts as Deputy Chair of the Board and also Chairs the
- As one of the non-exec directors on the ±«Óãtv Board, Damon is responsible for upholding and protecting the independence of the ±«Óãtv by acting in the public interest and exercising independent judgement.
- He is also responsible for ensuring that the ±«Óãtv fulfils its mission to inform, educate and entertain and promotes its public purposes.
- Damon helps ensure that the Board's decision-making is in the public interest, informed by the best interests of the audience and with appropriate regard to the impact of decisions on the wider media market in the UK.
- Non-executive directors play a key role in ensuring that the ±«Óãtv maintains the highest standards of corporate governance, particularly with respect to financial reporting, internal control and risk management.

Biography
Sir Damon Buffini was a founding partner of alternative asset manager Permira where he was Chairman and Managing Partner from 1997-2010. He remained a partner at Permira until the end of 2015 completing a 27 year a career with the firm.
In 2020 Damon was appointed as Chair of the £2bn Culture Recovery Fund which was granted and invested to ensure the survival and sustainability of the UK’s culturally significant organisations. Damon is also currently Chair of the Royal National Theatre. During his career Damon as served on many other boards including Hugo Boss AG; Wellcome Trust; the Royal Shakespeare Company and Schroders PLC.
Fees
The fees for non-executive directors of the ±«Óãtv Board are set by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
Non-executive directors receive a base fee of £33,000 per annum.
Damon Buffini receives an additional £5,000 p.a. as chair of the Commercial Board.
Total fees paid each year: £38,000 per annum.
Expenses and central bookings
Expenses are costs incurred by ±«Óãtv staff on behalf of the ±«Óãtv and claimed through the ±«Óãtv's expenses system.
Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the ±«Óãtv and booked through the ±«Óãtv's central bookings system. Both expenses and central bookings are published every three months.
