In the second session the children create dances representing binary stars and black holes.
2. Binary stars and black holes
The session begins with a warm-up exploring rocket shapes. But on their way to the moon and planets the children's rockets go wrong and whizz through space-time at hyper-speed into deep space.
Pairs circle around each other using different methods of travel to represent binary stars - a star system where both stars orbit around their common centre of mass. Then pairs and small groups make contact âholeâ shapes for other group members to travel through, to suggest a black hole and its gravitational pull.
Finally, a slow-motion spacewalk tries to identify the rocket problem.
