We’re learning how plants are adapted to survive in different environments and the clever ways they disperse their seeds in the second of our The Green Planet Live Lessons.

The Green Planet is a five-part landmark series on ±«Óătv One and iPlayer made by ±«Óătv Studios’ world-renowned Natural History Unit.

It follows Sir David Attenborough as he travels the world – from the rainforests of the tropics to the wildernesses of the frozen north – to explore the extraordinary ways in which plants have learnt to survive and thrive in almost every environment.

This curriculum-linked science Live Lesson for 7-11 year-olds is presented by Naomi Wilkinson and Bitesize Daily’s Mr McPartlin and features extracts from The Green Planet.

We learn how different plants have adapted to survive, the parts of a flowering plant involved in pollination, and the different ways seeds are dispersed in the wild.

You may also wish to look at our first, tropical-themed The Green Planet Live Lesson which explores the different parts of flowers and trees, and some of the tiny creatures that reply on them in the rainforest.

Check out The Regenerators for more green classroom resources to help children learn about the environment. Or use this simple guide to make your own seed balls.
