  3. 'You don't understand how together the club is'published at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February

    FT: Morton 2-1 Motherwell

Morton striker George Oakley on Sportscene: "We are all together in the dressing room, we had a bad spell at the start of the season but I think most teams have that and it is about how you dig yourselves out of that.

"I was digging at myself about that chance [that hit the bar]. In my head I guaranteed it was a goal. I knew I would get one more chance and it is about how I can take it and I did.

"These things happen, you put yourself in the right position and you get the chances.

"The confidence is flying, you can see it on the pitch. It is not just me, it is the whole team in there, the staff as well, you don't understand how together the club is. It is just amazing to be part of.

"2-0 is a very dodgy scoreline because they got back into it and we were just defending but I thought the boys were fantastic at the back tonight.

"These things happen but I thought the boys defended so so well. They were strong, dominant even against in form strikers that Motherwell have."

I tell you what...I don't think any team will find it easy at Cappielow in the quarter-finals, should they have to go there.

A tight pitch, a fan base who are galvanised by a team full of spirit, intensity, and quality too.

They'll be tough to beat in this form.

  5. Imrie 'proud' of playerspublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February

    FT: Morton 2-1 Motherwell

Morton manager Dougie Imrie on Sportscene: “I’m absolutely delighted. I’m really happy for my players. We managed to get the second goal at the right time. I’m really proud of them. This is a massive victory for the club.

“The back four handled [Blair Spittal and Theo Bair] very well tonight. To a man, my players were outstanding. You take anybody in the hat. If we’ll get a home tie and we get this kind of support, we’ll take anybody.

"The fans have been absolutely fantastic since I've come to the club. It's nights like these you hope to give back to them."

I think it was a fantastic performance. Not just in the first half to go in 1-0 up but how they managed the second half.

When they won the ball they didn't just kick it anywhere, they had a plan.

It's a fantastic achievement for Morton.

  7. 'It was absolutely bouncing'published at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February

    FT: Morton 2-1 Motherwell

Morton captain Jack Baird on Sportscene: "We'd have liked to have seen it out at 2-0. But we're happy with it, we're into the next round.

"Last year we went out the round before this. We'll hopefully get a home tie in the draw.

"That would be nice. You can't hear yourself speak. I was trying to shout and organise the defence but you can't hear anything. It's absolutely bouncing in here."

  8. Cappielow memoriespublished at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February

There was some atmosphere at Cappielow tonight. A proper Scottish Cup night under the lights.

The fans truly played their part.

  9. Glorious Greenock Mortonpublished at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February

    FT: Morton 2-1 Motherwell

What a night in Greenock. Morton make it 13 games unbeaten and it's now 10 wins in those 13.

George Oakley was named player of the match, and rightly so.

His 11th goal of the season ended up being the difference, and what a calm and composed finish it was.

That added to Harry Paton's own goal before the break. Motherwell set up a tense finish when Jack Vale scored late on, but they didn't really come close to an equaliser.

It's huff and puff stuff from Motherwell.

But they'll need something better in the final 90 seconds if they want to force extra time.

Ooft, that was close. Another ball into the Morton box causes a bit of panic, and Bevis Mugabi almost gets on the end of it.

Mugabi appears to have gone up top.

Up the other end, only the toe of Andy Halliday prevents Lewis McGrattan from shooting at goal.

    Hang on!

Nice play again down the right as Adam Devine picks out Jack Vale in the box.

He shoots first time and a big deflection off Darragh O'Connor takes it past goalkeeper Ryan Mullen.

    This could get tasty now!

Motherwell get down Morton's right-hand side, and Blair Spittal fizzes a ball into the six-yard box but nobody in claret and amber can get on the end of it.
