    Toni Kroos

A third, in the space of two minutes, what is happening?? Brazil are all over the place and are being ripped to shreds.

Toni Kroos has been killing the Samba stars with his pin-point passing and now seems to have put a final nail in the coffin with a thumping, left-footed drive from the edge of the box after smart play by Philipp Lahm down the right flank.

My goodness, we’ve only played 24 minutes but this one looks over already.

Germany are absolutely punishing them, Brazil look lost. They are so strong down the right-hand side then the ball comes in centrally, they work is nicely. Klose got a second chance and he isn’t going to miss that one.

    So simple.

  3. goal

    Miroslav Klose

RECORD BREAKER! Miroslav Klose has become the all-time leading scorer at World Cups with his 16th goal for Germany – again it is so easy for Joachim Low’s side.

Toni Kroos is involved again, threading the ball through to first goalscorer Thomas Muller, who pops it off for Klose.

The striker sees his first shot saved by Julio Cesar but doesn’t make a mistake from the rebound.

Brazil are sinking fast, this has been a terrible 23 minutes for them.

Brazil are trying things in the final third, but Bernard is no Neymar.

Those are some huge boots to fill.

Buzzing to FINALLY watch this match. I was in Costa Rica at the time of this tournament and instead of broadcasting this game they were broadcasting the Costa Rican team's plane flying back after a great tournament. Am sure I didn't miss too much...

Brazil could get overrun because they look rather uncomfortable at the back everytime the ball comes anywhere near them.

Not sure about this David Luiz-Dante partnership.

If Brazil are looking for leaders, there is no Thiago Silva.

If Brazil are looking for inspiration, there is no Neymar.

It is a ball that ends up at the far post and Muller is totally unmarked. Unbelievable to get that kind of space at this level.

He makes it look easy but it was all about concentration.

We will see what they are made of now.

  11. goal

GOAL - Brazil 0-1 Germanypublished at 11 mins

    Thomas Muller

It has taken Germany just 11 minutes and it can cannot be any more simpler.

Toni Kroos whips in the corner, Thomas Muller peels off his marker and guides a lovely, controlled, side-footed volley into the corner past the reach of Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

A nightmare start for the hosts.

Now Germany make their first break forward and almost net the opener.

Lovely play from Sami Khedira, stroking the ball wide to Mesut Ozil and then getting it back.

He has a first-time shot from eight yards out...which hits the back of his own player Toni Kroos.

That was bound for the bottom corner.

Deafening jeers ring around the stadium as Germany attempt to get a foothold in the game.

They're barely had a kick so far.

Excellent start from Brazil, really taking the game to Germany.

The incredible (sorry) Hulk finds space down the left and cuts the ball back into the box which Manuel Neuer gathers at the feet of Bernard.

It will be interesting to see Oscar in that central role that Neymar has vacated today. Luiz Gustavo being back is very important for Brazil, especially in the absence of Silva and Neymar."

First shot on goal from the hosts, Marcelo fizzes one wide from 25 yards out.

    Manuel Neuer had it covered.
