Glamorgan's acting captain, David Lloyd, brings himself on to bowl for the first time. It's not a bad over apart from one delivery which Eoin Morgan drills back down the pitch, forcing partner Paul Stirling to take evasive action, as it races to the boundary.

Paul Stirling takes to the skies again and hammers Prem Sisodiya down the ground for six. It's 'anything you can do, I can do better' as Eoin Morgan deposits the final ball of the over beyond the rope at mid-wicket to bring up a 50 partnership from 41 balls.

Glamorgan call up Marnus Labuschagne and his first ball is seized on by Paul Stirling, who goes down on one knee and hoists it over mid-wicket for a maximum. You can imagine his eyes lighting up like the wolf on meeting Little Red Riding Hood's granny.
A single by Stirling from the final delivery takes the Middlesex total to 50 - they are a third of the way there, with 12 overs remaining.

It may be a cliche, but when Paul Stirling hits them, they stay hit. Ruaidhri Smith sends one down wide of off stump and the Middlesex opener crashes it square for four - a shot of which Gordon Greenidge and Robin Smith, renowned cutters both, would have been very proud.
