Surrey's reply has begun in slightly ominous fashion from a Kent perspective as Rory Burns and Dom Sibley have punished anything even slightly loose from Kent's opening bowlers, finding the rope with regularity.
Arafat Bhuiyan has beaten the edge a couple of times but with a meaty 40-over session on the slate after tea due to the rain interruptions, Kent will hope to make a breakthrough while the ball is still relatively new.
Should they fail, you'd expect Surrey will fancy their chances of wiping out the majority of the 211-run deficit they currently face before stumps on day two.

Credit to Lancashire in that session. Yes the Essex lead is building but they stuck to their guns and bowled with some good discipline to pick-up four wickets.
Cox and Critchley could not repeat their heroics of last week against Kent but Tom Westley has batted nicely for his 55 while Michael Pepper’s brutal dealing of Luke Wells in the final over before the break might give us a taste of what is to come.
Essex will want a lead of more than 200 and it is Lancashire’s job to restrict them.

Tom Clark and Tom Alsop added 108 for the second wicket without ever looking entirely comfortable, and shortly after completing his half century Clark edged behind off the bowling of Dom Goodman.
Alsop has batted patiently and increasingly confidently, and reached the break having compiled his first half century of the season
Derbys v Leics 452-5
Just a single for Ben Cox in the final over before tea at Derby with Leicestershire in a very strong position following an innings of 214 by opener Marcus Harris.
He was eventually bowled by Pat Brown, having earlier shared a stand of 153 with Perter Handscomb, who made 68.
They will look to continue grinding down the Derbyshire attack in the final session, with Liam Trevaskis 40 not out and Cox on 22.
Northants 133-1 v Glamorgan 271
A very satisfactory afternoon for Northants, with Ricardo Vasconcelos and Luke Procter sharing an unbroken stand of 113 following the dismissal of Emilio Gay for 15.
They each pick up a single off Zain ul Hassan in the final over before tea, with Vasconcelos reaching 69 not out and Procter 40.
Mason Crane hit a career-best 61 earlier in the day before Glamorgan were finally bowled out.

Michael Pepper is not playing for tea as he hits a massive straight six off Luke Wells.
And the last ball of the session is slapped straight down the ground by Pepper to add four to the total.
An expensive over from Wells, conceding 17, giving up some of the hard work that his team had done in taking four Essex wickets since lunch.
