Nottinghamshire got the first win of the season but Lancashire made them wait today, they made them toil.

That Haseeb Hameed innings spread over days two and three, coupled with Olly Stone's career-best 90, put Notts in the box seat.

They had to wait a long old time before dismissing Lancashire in their second innings, though, thanks to a splendid century to Matty Hurst - I'm looking forward to seeing how his career develops over the years.

Lancashire have given it everything and they've certainly not chucked the towel in but Notts got over the line to win by nine wickets.

Hampshire's game with Durham has ended in an inevitable draw. No surprises given Durham's first innings only ended this morning.

The players went off for bad light at 2.47pm but it has now started raining. The analyst Simon Hughes suggested on air they had gone off "due to a lack of interest."

The pitch offered very little for the bowlers over the four days and made for some dull viewing at times. But Durham will be happy they kept themselves in this one. And they remain unbeaten on their return to Division One.

The match ends in the fitting manner as Haseeb Hameed helps himself to the single Notts require to win.

Hameed finishes on 24 not out, to go with his 247 not out. An aggregate of 271 runs unbeaten.

In fact, the Notts skipper was on the field for every single ball of this match as he leads his side to a first victory of the summer.

Notts pick up 22 points, while it is a third straight defeat for Lancashire who collect just four points.

They remain bottom of Division One and have a lot of work to do to get out of trouble.

The players will not be returning to the field at Utilita Bowl.

Bad light and the threat of rain has ended things early, but the result was already known - a draw for Hampshire and Durham but a win for a soul-destroying surface.

Hampshire remain without a win although they pick up 13 points for this draw. Durham are still unbeaten and collect 11 points.

It's the same result as last month when the teams did not get onto the field once in four days!

At 36-3 Kent were in real trouble, however Daniel Bell-Drummond (36*) and Harry Finch (21*) have steered them away from the brink with a 19-over partnership.

Worcestershire have given absolutely everything to this match. Whatever the result they deserve immense credit.

Kent are still 107 runs in arrears but with only 36 overs remaining and seven wickets to find, the odds on a draw are shortening.

Gloucestershire should quite rightly celebrate their thumping win against Northants.

Their last County Championship victory came on 28 September 2022, by 18 runs against Yorkshire at Headingley.

Glamorgan ended a 364 day wait for victory in Division Two with a nine-wicket success at home to Sussex yesterday, now Gloucestershire end an even longer wait.

The longest streak without a win belongs to Derbyshire who have not tasted victory since winning at Worcestershire on 28 July 2022.

Following the news that James Anderson is to retire from Test cricket this summer, the focus is switching to identifying the pace bowlers to form England's most potent attack going forwards.
