The Audience Award

Musical heroes of the New Europe, neither East nor West but simply and magnicently European!'

'I stumbled upon Terra Folk incidentally on the Edinburgh fringe as they were giving a little concert on the street... saw them later playing in a festival venue, turned out to be an absolute highlight of the whole festival. 'Terrafolk is a group of Musicians that know how to put on a good show. They don't need anything flashy to impress the audience - it is simply their personalities and love of music that inspires the audience to dance and sing and clap with just their fingertips. Their passion and talent for music shines through their songs. Whether it is harmonizing with two penny whistles played through the nose or playing the violin while an audience memeber holds the bow, these guys will always keep you guessing - and wanting MORE! They know what their audience wants and can rock out till three a.m. I hope to get the opportunity to see these guys again - COME TO AMERICA!'

'Absolutely stunning show at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It started at 12:30 a.m. and I was tired to start with and hoping it wouldn't go on too late. By by 2 a.m. when it finished I was exhilerated and wanted it to go on and on. Felt like a thrilling discovery.'

'They made the Edinburgh Festival for me. Stunning musicians, they possess a supreme talent to work a crowd into a frenzy with their mix of traditional folk, hunmour and a spirit that is so electric and contagious that you smile for days after sharing an evening with these boys. I saw them almost every night of their three week run at the Edinburgh Festival. If there was any doubt of their versatility as musicians, it was quickly eliminated when they played with Aussie hiphop/jazz/reggae band the Cat Empire. Memorable.'

'I saw them at Glastonbury playing in the Green Futures Field. They had the comatose hippy audience doing cartwheels by the end of their set. They got four encores, it was a riot. I bought both their CD's. Why doesn't some imaginative record company sign these boys?'

'I nearly didn't listen to this part of the Radio 3 programme, because I feared they'd be thigh slapping, accordion playing yodellers. I am really glad I did listen and was amazed at Terrafolk's skill, combination of seemingly uncombinable styles and sheer, unadulterated fun. I'm now off to seek their CD(s).'

'Heard them last year and their unique mix of balkan, gypsy, and jewish music really made a great gig. They are pure musicians and entertainers and are able to show with their music the feel of what Slovenia is about. Nice to see that everyone else can enjoy the the DJ's of folk music.'
