Owen Money
Owen with classic songs, laughter and your requests from the 1950s to the 1980s, every Saturday morning at 9, and with his new show the following morning, Solid Gold Sundays.
Born in Merthyr Tydfil, Owen grew up in the South Wales Valleys. He started his career in show business as a bass guitarist and lead singer with the pop group The Bystanders, who had hits in the 1960s on the Pye label.
In the 1970s his flair for comedy was spotted, and he formed the comedy band Tomfoolery, which became one of the UK's most successful comedy show bands, often topping the bill at Blackpool South Pier.
In 1980 he launched his solo career, soon winning the Club Land Comedian of the Year award, performing alongside Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones.
In 1987 Owen Money made his debut on Radio Wales with his weekly programme Money For Nothing. His popularity steadily increased and in 1997 Owen won two prestigious Sony Gold Awards, one for regional broadcaster of the year, and the other for best music sequence programme.
In addition to his broadcasting on Radio Wales Owen hosted the talent show Just Up Your Street on ±«Óãtv One Wales.
Owen was awarded the MBE in the 2007 new year's honours list.
