Raye: ‘I'm ridiculously overwhelmed and grateful. It's a miracle’

Singer-songwriter Raye won a record-breaking six awards at this year’s Brits, including Songwriter of the Year and Album of the Year.

Speaking on ±«Óãtv Radio 4's Woman's Hour, she told Emma Barnett what this success means to her, and why she brought her Grandma, Agatha, up on stage to celebrate, after she ‘sacrificed her life’ to bring her up.

Raye had faced years of rejection from her record label before being freed from her contract, which allowed her to keep the songs she had written.

She told Emma that she came back into music shrinking her expectations to the bare minimum, and that the response she’s received has been ‘quadruple, triple, times a trillion’ anything she could have ever imagined.

You can listen to the full interview with Raye on ±«Óãtv Sounds - it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 6 March.
