Women parliamentarians continue to face sexual abuse from their male counterparts

40% of female parliamentarians in Africa have experienced sexual harassment and 23% have endured physical violence. A 2021 report by Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the African Parliamentary Union indicates there is widespread sexism and violence against women in African parliaments. Women have reported that most abuse stems from male parliamentarians, especially those from rival parties. ±«Óãtv Journalist Grace Kuria spoke with various women leaders in Africa and shares their experience of harassment.
