Andrew Marston says: "I first met Abby Inez when she was just 18-years-old, three years ago. Back then, she was a regular on the open mic circuit around her home town of Droitwich.
Ìý

"Eventually she said 'you know what, I want to take this a bit further afield' so off she went to Nashville and performed at places such as the Bluebird Cafe, which is renowned for country music.
Ìý
"She eventually met Ben of The Shires the same way as Cara Beard did, who'd also been a regular on the open mic circuit. Ben said 'form a duo and I'll take you on tour with me' so they did and within a matter of months, they were picked up by the team that puts together the Eurovision Song Contest and they auditioned to represent the UK.
Ìý
"Abby and Cara have just been signed up by Warner Brothers and it was a real pleasure to introduce Darline to our ±«Óãtv Introducing stage at Lakefest."

Jay Newman, who runs the Pro-ject Warehouse, has just returned to the city after last week's closing parties.
Ìý
Pro-ject began two years ago when Jay and his friends bought a succession of warehouses and are now hosting nights in a car wash at Foundry Street, just off City Walls Road.

Composing music

Composing music

This week, we start a brand new series with one of the most successful and prolific songwriters we have in our area.
Ìý

Paul Farrer might not be a name you're familiar with, but you'll certainly be familiar with his work - having composed the music to The Weakest Link, Dancing On Ice and The Chase.
Ìý
More recently he's been downsizing his West Malvern studio, enabling him to work from anywhere - a move that has also helped him replace synthesisers for real instruments; he's recently started conducting large orchestras!
Ìý
So, just how do you find songwriting inspiration when your job depends on it - and how do you go about recording those instruments to showcase to the world? We'll find out as we break down some of those themes, which are so instilled into our minds, over these coming weeks.

±«Óãtv Introducing at Lakefest

±«Óãtv Introducing at Lakefest

This month's sessions come from Lakefest, which took place at Eastnor Castle Deer Park, near Ledbury.
Ìý
Primal Scream, Newton Faulkner and The Coral headlined the event, which relocated from Croft Farm Waterpark, near Evesham, after outgrowing its former site.
Ìý
The festival has now been running for five years and ±«Óãtv Introducing in Hereford & Worcester returned to the home of the former Big Chill to showcase three days of local music in the blazing sunshine.

Features

  • ÌýDetails of the Bewdley Festival and members of Hawkwind visit Evesham.
  • ÌýThe gig that attracted more than 5,000 people to Worcester, the greatest guitar solo of all time and two new festivals in our area.
