Marching on your stomach

Despite the summer, there is still winter ice that has not broken up in the south of Antarctica. Very few creatures can get across this to the land beyond. But one does. The Adelie penguin breeds farther south than any other penguin. They can not wait for the ice to break and have to walk. In some years they will march for more than 60 miles to reach their traditional breeding grounds. The Antarctic summer is short and deep so they must hurry. And one way of doing this is to push themselves along on their stomachs.
