As their training progresses some Officer Cadets leave Sandhurst. Those who are left are asked the question 鈥� are you able to kill and do you understand the nature of your contract with the Army?

A visit to Brookwood Military Cemetery is part of their education 鈥� an Officer鈥檚 contract is unlimited liability 鈥� and they are shown the grave of a young officer, killed four months after leaving Sandhurst in the service of his country.

Bayoneting exercise follows 鈥� the cadets need to turn into 鈥渟teely eyed dealers of death鈥� and there is no room for hesitation, an officer must set the example, those who do not are cowards.
